I was burglarized this morning (3-4:45am) while I was out, got away with an AK74 and a keltec PF9 (no room in the safe/ backup carry gun).

The AK was built on a bulgarian kit, with a NoDak Spud receiver.

AK SN: R004070

I am so pissed, not only because I wasn't home to stop it but because of what was stolen/ left alone. Took ALL my DVDs except Black Hawk Down, took the DIRTY POTS off my stove Etc. Took my new contacts

ETA: if you can ID what make/ model/ year this truck may be, I believe it is the burglar's.

UPDATE:
I forgot i put my keltec in the back of a drawer, so it was NOT stolen. Only the AK. Also, my TPD contacts have a lead from a different burglary, same MO, same truck.

Whatever that truck is has a utility bed on it. Looks like it could be a Chevy/GMC.

looks like the truck is a 70s-80s model with a service body rather than a normal bed.  Have you had anyone do work on the place in the last year?

Also night time burglary leads me to believe they know you aren't going to be home.  If someone came to service your AC or do yard work or something else and you had them come when you will be home and mentioned when you work it might lead you to suspects.

This is one of the reasons I never hire anyone to do things around the house. I dib;t want anyone to know when I will or wont be home.

Spent 15-20 minutes trying to pry open my front casement window (old style crank open), failed at that, so he bypassed the fence into the backyard and pried open my sliding vent window on my rear door. Spend a loooong time (enough to open at least 1 ammo can from my closet and determine my pistol cases were empty. Lucky for me he left my computer or I'd have no timeline or video.

No work done, unfortunately this is like the 3rd burglary on the block in the past year or 2, though the MO for this one is different than the others.

Do you use locking devices or stop-rods on your windows? Not trying to pry too much, just always looking for more info on these types of events to try and help myself and my students. Wish it didn't happen to you, though. I hate thieves.

No, the window he broke into was one in the door that slides up and down, it has tabs that lock it but somehow he was able to bypass them without destroying the frame. Not sure it would be possible to further reinforce it. My other windows all have locks, most of them are newer except the one he tried to pry open.

ETA: Just talked to my neighbor across the street, he said a truck matching my description was parked in my next door neighbors driveway around the time he got hit last year.

ask your neighbor if he knows the truck.  Theres gotta be something to this. Get all your neighbors on board to find out who owns this truck and to keep a look out for it.

just for a short time around when he was burglarized. We don't know who owns the truck, but he thinks it's someone who lives nearby and thats why they know when people aren't home.

Lots of distortion, but the dark band on the front fender looks like a Dodge truck, mid 90s.

It was dark out, very little light, and at a distance, I cropped and blew up the screen capture, but here is the original clip. I'm actually super pissed at myself for not turning the front porch light on. because if I had I may have gotten a face shot, or he may have avoided my house entirely.

Thanks for the clip, is that the whole clip?

It appears to stop as the backing out is occuring,  if you have a longer clip that shows more of the darkened parts of the vehicle,  even if it obsucres what we can see in this clip,  it will help provide a better overall look.

I'll keep an eye out down here near SV but it's not like there's an abundance of shops in this area.  I'd say call around to all of the gun stores and pawn shops in the Tucson area and keep an eye out online for it.  Did you report it stolen to the police?  Chances are the guns are on their way south but you never know...it could turn up.  Best of luck!

Yes, it's all I have, unfortunately the computer that records the feed is old and on wifi so I think the feed cut out. I have a plan to build a dedicated machine for it that is hard wired in with a battery backup, but I had it on the back burner since I was trying not to spend money on projects for a while.

First thing I did once I checked and saw they were gone was call TPD, also gave them the serial #s on my electronics. Supposedly pawn shops are required to submit stuff they get to an online database, but I'm not holding my breath.

I the video I think I can see the glare coming off a chevy bowtie in the grill. It's easier to see in the full screen view.  I'd call it a 89-98 Chevy single cab with a utility box and it looks like a chrome front bumper.

Something like this one:

I'll keep an eye open, sounds like you live right down the road from me.

from the shape of the cab I did some investigating.  It is a70s model truck.  Those are the only years where ford or chevy have a cab where the back has a forward slant like that and is rounded up where it meets the roof.
.

really leaning towards 75ish due to the shadow on the fender shape of cab and square wheel well instead of round.

Okay I've been thinking about this mother trucker all day and I'm thinking that he probably doesn't drive this truck on a daily basis he probably bought it at an auction it's an old SRP truck or something (basically disposable) and he keeps all his burglar tools in the back in the toolboxes. He probably parks it in some yard most of the time & just takes out when he is going to go "treasure hunting". Any hometown members who happen to drive around that neighborhood might keep an eye out around scrapyards or any kind of industrial area where this truck may be parked. Probably behind a building.
I hope this trucker goes down, goes down hard. Good luck OP.

you could try google mapping your area and searching the neighborhood for trucks with a service body on them then drive over to check it out if you find one.

Another thing I realized is that most of these types of trucks have a material rack or a ladder rack over the bed that goes over the top of the cab. I can't tell for certain but if this truck doesn't have that it's going to stand out a little bit more than all the other service trucks that you see around and it looks from the photo that possibly it does not have a material rack

I actually did drive around a little in the immediate area scoping out to see if the truck was local,  this was before the info came to light about the other burglary. If they are correct the suspect does not actually live nearby. I have some calls to make tomorrow, but we'll see what develops.

I thought it was that body style also, until I studied the video a couple times. What pushed me away from that model is that I didn't see the body curvature at the back of the cab in the video, though looking at the original still image now I think I can see it there. Either way, I 'm pretty sure it's a chevy

If you can determine it's a late 70's to early 80's Chevy, I saw one in Huachuca City yesterday.  It struck me as odd because you rarely see "service trucks" that old....no markings on it...no additional tools/buckets/ladders on top of the box in the back.  All white.  Pretty close match for what you're looking for.  It's not uncommon for dirtbags to go "shopping" away from the area in which they live, so it could be a possibility.  I'll keep an eye out for it again and also do a little searching when I get the chance.  I think I have a pretty good idea of the area/neighborhood where the owner lives.

I haven't heard any meaningful updates from my sources, officially the TPD Sgt I spoke with said they wouldn't be assigning a detective. There is a possible suspect, and I think they put his truck as a late 80's or early 90's Chevy. From what I was told there is a detective who is looking for a guy. I'm pretty sure most of my stuff is gone for good, but I'd be quite happy if they caught the guy with some of my stuff and sent him back to prison. Sorry to be vague, but this is a public forum after all.

Also for anyone who lives around the same area, I'd suggest being on the lookout for such a truck in your neighborhood since he may still be active in the area, if only to prevent a burglary from you or your neighbors. I will post updates if there is any news either way.

That rifle's probably on the other side of the border by now. AKs and ARs are the preferred rifles used by the cartels, so chances are it will end up in a picture on "Blog Del Narco" or something. I remember seizing two rifles while working in Nogales, an AK and an SKS; the SKS was reported stolen out of Phoenix.

When you get a chance,  ask them what the averge processing time is for prints recovered from burglaries,   when they actually respond and  recover prints that it.

The time frames I've heard from TPD sources is less then encouraging,   it appears there is a substantial backlog to even enter them into the sytem to attempt to find a match.
