Myself and a couple of co-workers are out here working at Palo Verde and ended up with a day off tomorrow. We'd like to get some recommendations for a couple of gun shops to check out. We've all been to Phoenix several times, I've worked out here at least a dozen times, and never have got a local point of view.

We're going to SGC to look around and probably Cabela's, all of us have been to both places a few times, but are there any other gun shops that we just shouldn't miss? We're all NFA item owners and wouldn't mind seeing some of the other shops besides SGC that handle that stuff, but we don't want to miss out on a good shop that doesn't deal in NFA stuff.

Hell, one of us might even buy something (transferred through our respective home state FFL's of course), if we can find a good enough deal.

Thanks!

I would recommend that you pop in and see Tim McBride at East Valley Class 3, but he's way over in Apache Junction. He has a few nice NFA items though. SGCUSA & US Autoweapons next door to them, Shooters World, Sportsmans Warehouse, Bass Pro Shops, Caswells, all come to mind. I'm sure there are some class 3 shops on the west end of town, but I'm not familiar with them. Welcome to AZ, enjoy your time here

US auto weapons is right next door to SGC, I think you'll find all the class 3 stuff you're looking for in there.

Two of us have been to US Auto Weapons before, I'm not sure about the other guy. It's on the list. Thanks.

Steam generator eddy current data analysis.

I work all over the US (34 states) and abroad (16 countries) doing NDT. I've worked at 16 or so different nuke sites here in the US and done eddy current data for another half dozen or so up at the Westinghouse Waltz Mill facility in PA. I've worked at all three Florida plants. Been badged at St. Lucie and Turkey Point no telling how many times. I still have an active badge at St. Lucie from some UT we just finished up out there.

Legendary guns 5150 n 19th ave in Phoenix might be worth it as well. they have lots of cowboy action stuff as well as older colts/S&W handguns and obscure European stuff as well

Fuck if there is something you guys really want then check the Phoenix area backpage. Get a gun that way tax free with non paperwork.

A gun store that has always been good to me though is Randalls on 51st ave and Olive. They give me a free knife every time I go in there, and when I was home on leave the guy asked me if I was military and I said yes so he asked me what he could do for me. I told him I was looking for a top grade 91/30 Mosin Nagant. He said he didn't have any but his son was the manager of a big 5. So on the spot he calls his son and tells asks him if he has the gun and his son says he does so the Randalls guy tells him he has some military on leave and that he should give me the gun at cost. So i head to big 5 and the son followed through he ended up giving me the 200 dollar Mosin for 99 even. I could see the 200 dollar price tag on the box and everything.

I always thought that was really nice of them and they didn't have to do that. When I have to go through a gun store I try to give my business to them because of that.

That is awesome.  I work at SRP, I know we have a small percentage of Palo Verde with APS running it.  I am IT, but get to travel to some of our coal plants and hydro sites, freaking love it!

Reason I was asking about FL is my uncle was a higher up supervisor/operator at Crystal River.  He just retired a few months ago.

That's cool.

I have a friend that's an engineer at Crystal River, I knew him long before he started there. I always like going up there to work.

If I can get the other two knuckleheads out of bed, they're working nightshift, we'll start hitting some of the shops you guys have been suggesting before they close.

We got a late start so our time was limited, but we made it to SGC, US Auto Weapons, Guns Etc., Shooter's World and Cabela's.

SGC's prices were too high as usual, but the selection was good.
US Auto Weapons is about the same as SGC.
Guns Etc. had decent prices for what I looked at but the shop was small and crowded, so I didn't get a chance to look at everything.
Shooter's World seemed to have decent prices also, kinda warehouse-ish, but I'd go back.
Cabela's had high prices of course, but I almost pulled the trigger on a 26" Browning O/U for my wife, but I really need her there to make sure it would fit her and I don't know if she'd like a straight stock. I'd like to have a 26" field model for myself, but I prefer a pistol grip stock.

We had fun and saw a lot of guns which was the point of the day.

I'll keep the suggestions in mind in case I get some more free time or for the next trip out here.

Thanks again!
