The idiot test thread reminded me of this asshole I met in the desert a couple months ago. It might actually be one of you so here goes:
If you are enjoying a day out shooting and another group of people pull up, smile and wave, don't fire your POS shotgun into the dirt in their general direction in an attempt to scare them off. Sure, some people aren't very safe with guns so I understand your apprehension. In fact, just a second ago, some retard almost got shot for doing stupid unsafe shit with a shotgun. Sure, you are concerned for the safety of your younguns. Intentionally pissing off random, armed strangers in the desert is a suboptimal method of ensuring their safety. I'm sure you think you look really badass with your DCU pants but the two veterans who almost shot you think you look like a retarded old fuckpocket. I'm sure you felt like you won but you very nearly lost. I hope your stupidity results in a painful death for you and I hope the kids don't have to pay for it. For the record, when we pulled up Dickhole and one of his kids was downrange checking targets. We smile and wave, he uses his death ray vision. We park and start to unload, he blasts his shotgun into the ground kinda sorta in our direction (blade, dump, blah, blah, no drawing). After checking myself for hydraulic leaks, I initially assumed that he was just simple but he kept trying to make his death vision work. I say "You don't mind if we set up over here, right?" (a good 30 yards or so to the side) and he mutters that he does mind. Wait, wut? Now it's kind of obvious that he's simple and an asshole. We left, of course. No reason I need to be the one to hand out his Darwin award. Anyone else run into short bus assholes out there? |
"retarded old fuckpocket" was a touch of beauty. Here here!
I don't set up near anyone, and i dont like people setting up near me. If you are within "smile and wave" distance, that's a bad move. 30yards is way too close for some stranger to set up when I'm out in the desert killing paper. That being said, your retarded old fuckpocket friend shouldn't have spooged his mossberg phallus in your direction, that's a wronger move. |

It's understandable that someone wouldn't want to be around someone but the right way to deal with it is to use your big boy words. I generally have a nice time meeting other shooters and talking guns and checking out each others' toys. We set up a considerate distance away, shoot in the same direction, observe common sense rules like asking for a cease fire before heading downrange and not handling any firearms while other folks are downrange. |

I agree, I always ask before I set up next to someone and rarely does anyone ever mind; it usually starts up some good conversations. I actually ran into another member from ArizonaShooting.com near Box Canyon last year.
The only retard I've ever ran in to was up on the Rim in 2009, me and a buddy are happily plinking away into a 40 foot wide by 15 foot tall dirt pile left over from some road work when a guy comes hauling ass up the dirt road in his Cavalier with a handgun in one hand and a camera in the other. He jumps out yelling and swearing at us, waiving his arms around shouting that we were shooting at him and he was calling the police and that his wife is the DA's cousin's friend or something like that. When we asked where he was camped he pointed down the road while shouting "it doesn't matter!" When we politely corrected him and showed him the targets we were shooting at (pointed in the opposite direction as his camp) he took pictures of my license plate and our faces (which were probably like at this point) and blocked my truck in with his car. I told him I had no problem waiting for the police because nothing we were doing was illegal and asked him to put the gun down. That just pissed him off and we stood there for a good 20 minutes waiting for the "police" to come while he shouted at us calling us every demeaning and derogatory term he could muster from his limited vocabulary. We could smell the beer on him from 15 feet away so we decided to just shut up in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. He eventually told me he was going to get his wife and come back, so he hopped in his little car and sped off again . Not wanting to deal with the armed idiot any more, we hastily packed up and left.

Good news is that if you had to, there's probably a mine somewhere close by where you could dump the body and nobody would be the wiser. |

sounds like the the yahoo gun totin ignoramus's that are dealt with out near queen valley all the time. in the whitlow dam area they drive their body lifted 2wd s10's chuckin beer bottles from the passenger window while the idiot in the truck bed tries skeet shootin with an AK. having no clue that beyond that wispy stand of virtually see through palo verde trees are 2 other vehicles and 3 shooters.
and the whole moronic part is when 1 shooter goes for cover the other 2 stand there bewildered and want to know if thats a shooting drill they should practice with their SKS's... "jackwagons" (borrowed term) have obviously never been on a 2 way range.
or was it the fact that maybe when they hear that at home and know its only a game? |

Yeah there are some dumbasses out there. Some friends and I ran into some crazy drunk rednecks. Didn't think they were going to be an issue so we went down the road about a mile and were shooting into a mtn. Well sadly, the drunks were blazing our way in their 80's truck and in the back was some crazy guy with an AK. Luckily he didnt shoot anyone but he did fall out the back of the vehicle. Since this incident, I have not gone back to Queen Valley to shoot.
People are crazy! |

Quoted: apparently a lot of you are better men than I, because if you discharge a weapon in my direction , that's the green light for you to catch a hollowpoint between the eyes. I feel the same way. I've never had anyone shoot at me stateside but I honestly feel like I would immediately be shooting back. |
I had to explain to them that their rounds were going over the berm and ending up near me. I suggested that they move their targets away from me or any road and if I receive any more incoming rounds I'm going to treat that as a threat
Not wanting to deal with the armed idiot any more, we hastily packed up and left.
