Got this email this morning, not sure how I got on the list:
[email protected] Common Sense, Not Nonsense
Books Not Bullets Books Not Bullets Did you wake up this morning and think to yourself we really need to make sure students, visitors, teachers, or prospective students on college campuses can carry concealed weapons? Seems outrageous, doesn't it? Unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening down at the state legislature. As Republicans, we believe in strong 2nd Amendment Rights. However, campuses should be places for learning, not worrying about if someone is carrying a concealed weapon. Some politicians in the state legislature think that instead of solving our state's budget problems, working to create jobs, or making education a priority, it is necessary to make sure students and others can carry guns on campuses. Guns on campuses do not make sense. Again, this isn't a 2nd Amendment issue, it is about keeping our families safe. Students and teachers should be focused on learning and teaching while at school. Not about whether the person next to them is packing a gun. Please use the information to your right to contact your legislator today! Make your voice heard for safe campuses and help keep our families safe! my response: I support concealed carry on campuses, as college campuses are not secured areas like airports, court houses, or government buildings. There are not controlled entry and exit points, anyone can come and go as they please. Disarming qualified adults, while maintaining lax security does nothing but enable criminals and mad men who do not care about following the law. There is little functional difference between carrying concealed in a movie theater off of a college campus and carrying concealed in a lecture hall. Both are crowded, densely packed areas; yet there have not been instances of misuse or hitting innocent bystanders in movie theaters. Where is your legislation proposing walls and increased campus PD presence, and metal detectors at entrance points to college campuses? To do anything less while insisting that law abiding armed adults cannot carry the tools to defend themselves while attending classes is morally irresponsible. |

Do they have a website? Doesn't look like it. Can't find an internet footprint for them either.
Something doesn't match up about the "email" and the beliefs and actions of REAL republicans. Maybe someone (left) running a misinformation/diversion campaign? ETA: The protest slogans are a big heads up. |

Better be careful, that's how the disease of liberalism infected us in California.
"oh we believe in gun rights but...". Give them an inch, they take 100 yards and come back for more. Don't let liberals destroy your great state of Arizona like they have destroyed California. They all start out with "The University". |

Quoted: There is no Republicans for Safe Campuses. This is a dirty trick by liberal fuckfaces to try and make the general public think, "Wow, even the Republicans are opposed to campus carry? Gee maybe campus carry isn't such a great idea after all" No shit, I was on the executive board for the ASU college republicans for two years and campus carry was always near the top of the list (and not just because I was involved). |
| I am currently enrolled in Estrella Mountain Community College. I have not been in school since 1985, but my daughter enrolled right after her HS graduation, followed by my wife and then I said "What The Hell" and signed up . So, here I am, with the two most important gals in my life, and essentially helpless against an armed assailant. I cannot wait for this to become law. I will carry, as will my wife, and when she is old enough, my daugher will follow suit. It is utter bullshit that I cannot defend my family on public land. |
