I know where they are. A modest donation of a Colt 6920 or Colt 1991 would suffice to bribe me into not telling anyone.

I know where some are as well.. I hope we are not all talking about the same group of hogs.

Here's the problem I have with people being protective of their feral hog spots., Hogs destroy eco-systems, breed like fucking rabbits, and are a menace to any and all flora and fauna in their area. By protecting them from other hunters all you're doing is giving everyone an opportunity to hunt them in the future, when they take over half of the fucking state just like they've done all over Texas and the southeast US. Protect your javelina and coyote spots, fuck the hogs, all you're doing is giving them more time to ruin the great outdoor spots that we do have. What we really need is every damn hunter in this state knowing where they are so we can get rid of the fuckers.

While I totally agree with what he's saying, I really just want to know so I can go hunting with my SBR without driving to Texas or NM to do so.

The feral hogs will likely never be as bad in AZ as in other states due to our very dry and rocky terrain. Not to say that the current pockets of them won't get bigger, but they move around a lot from water to water and can be tough to locate again. I know where small pockets of them have been in the past, if I knew where they were right now I would post it for the world as I believe they need to die.

I really hope this is the case. I just know from my travels that animals adapt and overcome very well. Look at the feral camels, cats, and donkeys in Australia. I'd just hate to see the population get big enough to start driving out native species.

Yeah, this is true. We went back out yesterday and found only sign. No hogs. Almost got a shot off at a bobcat though. I'll prob go back out again next weekend and look for them. If I don't find any next weekend maybe Ill post the area I am looking at. If I get one and there is more than a few, I'll post also cause I just want to get one hog. Rest you guys can exterminate.

Also, since it took this long for me to find my FIRST hog, and seeing how some others have been looking longer without seeing anything. And with what rizzo said, and how AZ is a much rougher terrain than TX. I am not to concerned about hogs over taking AZ. Prob have a higher probability of getting taken over by wolf spiders than hogs

I could tell you guys all of the places I have seen hogs in AZ, down to GPD coords, and you could go there and look for days and find nothing. If you see them and you can kill them, do so with extreme prejudice. But it's a luck thing more than a skill thing when finding them.

when can you get a hunting license? i thought we were just waiting for you to be an AZ resident?

Do you even need a license to kill hogs? They're not game animals so AZG&F shouldn't require a license to kill them... Not that everyone shouldn't have at least a general hunt & fish, but just sayin'...

I'm in the desert every weekend all over the central part of the state and I've never seen any hogs and I only came across sign once about a year ago near 96 Hills. That said, I'm always packing a rifle when I'm out so if I ever do see some there wouldn't be many left for the rest of y'all.

Game Management Unit 13B

Feral Pigs

In recent years, feral pigs have been sighted near Mud Mountain and Black Rock Mountain. Very little is known about the numbers, habitat use and behavior of these animals, but it appears they are transitory between Mud Mountain and Black Rock spending much of the summer months on Black Rock and winter months near Mud Mountain. They appear to be closely tied to water sources in these areas, and track sign is common.

You are encouraged to attempt to harvest a feral pig in 13B. Keep in mind that hunters who have tried to harvest a feral pig have had mixed results because of the limited number of animals and a quick weekend trip to hunt feral pigs may not be successful.
If you choose to hunt these animals please keep the following in mind:

No hunting license is required to hunt these animals.
Harvest of sows is encouraged to limit population growth and adverse impacts to turkey populations (nest predation = no poult production) and wildlife habitat.
This population is feral and is not actively managed by the Game and Fish Department.
A packet will be available through the Arizona Stirp BLM office in late 2010 related to feral pig hunting. This packet can be received by calling 435-688-3200.
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

This may only apply to Unit 13B, I can't find a general ruling on this when I searched

No license is required for feral hogs anywhere in AZ as they are a non-game species and not managed by the AZGFD. This means there is also no limitations on methods of take.

Is a hunter safety course required in order to obtain a license?
I had to take one in another state I lived in years ago.

Nope. You can get them at most gun stores, Ace Hardware, Walmart, I think Big 5 and I am sure plenty of other places. No class needed.

Yup, if you could procure a helicopter and a minigun, you could use that to hunt pigs.

I harbor no soft spot for any vermin.  My old man would shit his pants if I sent him a picture of me with a dead bobcat.  I'll be in touch in about four weeks.
