So, I'm gonna join the 21st Century and update my phone. I'm on a cheap AT&T burner that's still based in Illinois. Less than pleased. Shit quality and reception. My employer offers some discounts, so I figure, why not? Only question is, which one? Verizon- 22% off Sprint-17% off T-Mobile-15% off Of those three, who tends to be the most reliable? I spend time in Phoenix, Kingman, and the areas surrounding both most of the time.

If you check consumer reports. They show by state which is the best. It is usually Verizon first then Sprint. Verizon has a limited data plan and is more expensive. Sprint has an unlimited plan and is somewhat cheaper. It all depends on what features are important to you.

I have Sprint and love it. They have a true Unlimited Data / Text plan. They were also the cheapest when I was shopping for cell phone plans.
The only thing is if you want 4g data, I wouldn't go with Sprint right now. They have very little 4g covereage in the valley. It doesn't bug me, I use wifi when at home and the 3g when I am out if plenty fast for my phone. Just FYI. If I didn't go with Sprint, I would go with Verizon. |

Although there are going to be a few small spots of no coverage around phoenix. For example, I loose coverage on the road from litchfield and camleback to litchfield and indianschool. |
I went with Verizon back in summer '04, I was with Tmobile before that. When I went to Ft Eustis VA for TDY my Tmobile phone sevice was the suck. When I came home to PHX for a hoilday weekend, I went down to Verizon and picked up a new phone. I could not have been happier with the switch.. I can also get calls out in the desert areas close to the city where my buddies that use Tmobile can't...

+1 for Sprint in the Phoenix area (and most of the state really.) The unlimited data thing is important to me though, plus I'm on a grandfathered SERO plan that's stupid cheap and is damn near unlimited in every way =)
Even for normal use, I'd say get Sprint, and make sure your plan also allows for roaming. That way, no matter what, you've got the two best networks. Sprint most of the time, and Verizon to fall back on if you're in a Sprint dead zone. |

Sprint will roam on verizon so coverage should be about the same.
I had verizon and it was $92 a month for unlimited data, 900 min and 500 txt. That was after a 20%ish discount. I switched to boost (who runs off just sprint towers, no roaming) with unlimited everything for $55 a month to start and after 18 months it drops to $40. Im in flagstaff and around town it works just fine and if I have to walk up a hill a few times a year to make a call its worth the $480 a year im saving. In an emergency it will go to any CDMA tower to make a call even if its not on sprints network so you can still call 911. Strait talk phones that have a model number that end in the letter C run on the verizon network except for their android phone which goes on sprints. Strait talk is $45 a month for unlimited everything. |

Just switched from Verizon to Virgin Mobile. Why, Verizon wants just too much money. If your a big Data and Min + Text user, pay your $100 per month (note that is $1200 per year) to Verizon. I was really worried about coverage. Before I was with Verizon I had ATT. ATT never would work at my house. Verizon worked really good. But this is for voice because a cell phone is still a phone. If you want a mobile computer get one of those tablets. But I tested Virgin mobile at my house and all around the valley for 2 weeks. It worked just as good as my old Verizon phone. So I switched. Note that V/M has a $35/mth (no contract) w/ unlimited data/text and 400 min. Gee I'll probably save $65/mth. They have other plans with more minutes. Merry Christmas |
| Eazy go with Verizon. Coverage is best especially in the sticks that is Mohave county. Beware that technically VZW roams off of Citizens' Mohave County Wireless but you'll get 3G coverage regardless and there's no such thing as roaming charges anymore. I get 3G along the 40 into and out of Kingman for a good distance just FYI |
