This was my second time taking this class within a year and I have to say I saw a noticeable difference in my own shooting. The class starts off with you dumping a whole mag on full auto. Of course this being my second time I knew how to hold the rifle and lock in my stance. My group was small and tight and only got better throughout the day.
We covered the history of the AK-47 and AK-74, the differences, and why some prefer one over another. We went through the parts and how to disassemble and assemble, and what parts would likely go down first. Got into shooting quickly with 4-6 round bursts and single shots on full auto. Going from 6 round bursts to single shot can be difficult but once you get the hang of it its quite easy. To test the effectiveness of full auto at a distance we would dump a mag and move back until the hits were too widespread over the target. We got back maybe 30 meters before only half of the rounds were making impact on the target. We got into shooting 4-6 round bursts on the move, forward and backwards. Then concluded with some talking machine guns. All in all this class was once again very beneficial for anyone shooting full auto OR semi. It gives you a new respect for full auto and will make your semi that much easier to control. Let’s be honest, how often do you get to dump 1,000 rounds through a full auto AK-47? That alone was worth the price of admission. Want to thank Jay for making it as fun as it was informative. I would recommend this class to anyone who will be downrange at some point. You need to know your enemies weapon of choice. Even if you aren’t going downrange this class is for the well rounded shooter and should be on your short list.
