They like to hang out on my front porch at night. I don't leave the lights on near the front door so I don't think I'm attracting insects. I'm looking for a way to discourage them from hanging out there. Not interested in killing them, just encouraging them to move on. Pretty bad for guests who come to the front door at night, one almost flew in the house last night, and there is a nice collection of guano forming on the sidewalk in front of the door.
Options? I can't really hang anything above the door (its a rented house and its all stucco, the front door opens up into an area that has a 15' vaulted ceiling and the bats seem to like hanging out up there, although there are no holes or openings or hidey-holes, just a big open high ceiling. Thanks. |

Sounds like you and I have pretty much the same type of front "porch". I don't leave the light on (rarely have it on at all actually). Never had any bat problems ––- and I've got plenty of bats around the neighborhood. Love watching them fly their erratic flight patterns at dusk. Maybe get yourself a tennis racket and stand 'Bat Guard' a couple of nights on your front porch? Yeah, I know. 'Smart ass Bear'
