In reference to our current carry laws.... Does DPS still have a CCW division? Do they still Issue CCWs? Mine doesn't expire until 2013.

Do the CCWs we still have still skip the NCICs check?

Yes.

Yes. Permits are still useful to carry in alcohol serving establishments, carry out of state, being exempt from the 1000 foot "rule" surrounding school zones, and a few more useful things.

Yes DPS still has the CCW division. CCW permits are still available. And yes, with CCW you don't need a NICS check when purchasing or transferring a weapon.
You have to have a CCW permit to carry in restaurants(that serve alcohol) and bars.
