Hey guys, I just got fired from my job tonight by phone the reason they gave me was "eccesive internet useage". I was an AAA dispatcher. however there are multiple dispatchers that use facebook, myspace and youtube throughout the night, that are forbidden sites by name! also there are other employees that have been consistanty late for the past 4-6 months. I was a exeptionaly employee performance wise, however when I saw a violation of policy i would point it out to the supervisors. I feel that they singled me out. what are my options legaly if anyone knows, you can call me at 623-329-8558, thanks in advabce  ~Randee

Arizona is a right-to-work state.  They can fire you for any reason provided it doesn't violate your civil rights. Put it behind you and move on as fast as you can.

Did you use the internet?  If yes, move on.  If no, move on anyway.

Unfortunately, this doesn't matter.  Unless you have been terminated in violation of specific employment protections like Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA, public policy exception to employment at will (very rare) or have an employment contract (union), then you have no claim to wrongful termination for something like this.  Like the others have said, it may really suck and it may not be right, but there isn't anything you can do about it but suck it up and move on.

I went through this back when i got fired back in 2008. I was canned because a new HR employee wanted to make a name for herself and fire me before a raise kicked in.

Right to work state. Nothing you can do.

Trying to air dirty laundry about a company is not conducive to getting your job back. You would be surprised who reads the HTF....
