'03 Toyota Matrix with 200k miles on it. Major service today. Mechanic said the vehicle is mechanically sound and will probably take me another 50k miles if I do my part (its my daily commuter). Says I am in desperate need of tires and struts. Wants a lot of money for said parts. Called around a few places and got quotes within +/- $100-150 of the dealer's quote. Looks like its gonna be an expensive venture either way and I'm trying to figure out if putting the money into the car is gonna be worth it or not, but... While I lament the decision, and recommendations for tires/struts in the Tucson area? Preferably near Houghton or the base...

Was told Discount Tire near the base had the best prices (lowest quote so far) and they told me that either Brake Masters or another shop (can't remember the name) would give 10% discount on struts/alignment when referred from Discount. Looking at about $1400 out the door for everything.... 2003 Toyota Matrix.... If I dump this money into this car it had better go another 50k miles! I kinda like not having a car payment and am in no mood for a new car right now. |
