I feel sorry for you city folk - "is that a meteor?"   "Nope, just the ghetto bird spotlight."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1302402/Perseids-meteor-shower-2010-Tonight-spectacular-years.html

My family and some friends are planning on doing a little camping tonight and staying up to watch the whole thing. The kids are gonna love it!

I was on my way home from Tucson back to Mesa, so watched em out near picacho peak from 11:30pm till 1:00am.. it was DARK.  Saw about 1 every 2-3min.  most were smaller or medium, but there were one or two that were pretty spectacular.  Caught a few on camera.  Ill post larger images at some point and more.. these are the two I pulled off the camera quick though.

oops how did these get in here.. oh well.   MMMMM SONORAN DOGS!

Stayed up watching them until 3:30 this morning. Saw a lot, that's for sure, but not as many as I'd expected. Still - there were plenty of really bright "fireballs".

Tough to see in town, but there were some damn neat ones.

Binocs and a reclining chair helped.

I'll be passing through Tucson next week and have always wanted to try a Sonoran dog.  Where's a good place to get 'em?

"Sonoran hot dogs date back as far as the 1960s, but they did not become popular in Tucson until the 1980s, said Maribel Alvarez, a University of Arizona folklorist who has researched the common street food for the Tucson Meet Yourself festival.
There are many variations, but in general, all Sonoran dogs are wrapped in bacon, placed in a soft Mexican bun and topped with numerous condiments such as beans, mustard, mayonnaise, onions, tomatoes, cheese and jalapenos.
There may be as many as 260 Sonoran hot dog stands in Tucson, Alvarez said."

The huge green ones that left very visible trails were awesome, seemed like one of those were every 25/30 mins or so.

The longest visible trail I counted was 4 seconds.

I've been watching meteors come down all week, I go out at random times for a smoke after 11pm and everyday this week I've seen at least one every time I've been out.

The show up here in Kingman was great.....I'd say about one every 3 to 5 minutes. Some seemed HUGE! I noticed the big ones right on top of me left a brief trail of shimmering particles in their wake.

Checked last night but only saw 2 in a 30 minute period.
