On a lark, we are renting a cabin in Greer this weekend. I really know nothing about the area other than I heard it's nice and has a river (my 4 year old loves rivers).
Any recommendations of things we might try to do/see while we're there? Anywhere fun to shoot? |

Its been about 6 or 7 years since I did some work there. Took my wife with me. Stayed in a little motel for one night, no phone, very quiet, the staff freaked my wife out for somehow, so she hiked up to my job site and stayed with me for the day. My cell phone didn't work there either...That probably has changed since then. The next few nights we rented a cabin, really cozy, down to earth, and no phone. It was actually nice to hear nothing. The stars were bright. Not sure if I saw much of a river, but then again I was too busy working on a guys cabin. Its not too far from sunrise ski resort, big lake and quite a few nice camping spots. You do need to be mindful of the Indian reservation land areas, so be careful where you go shooting in that neck of the woods. Not sure if any of this help or not.
I would like to go back again. Its a nice place to just get away from everything. |

greer is fantastic!
Your cell phone will probably have little to no service when you get back in there. X-Diamond ranch for some awesome horse back riding, but other than that...the major attractions are awesome trout fishing, and the peace and quiet. I suggest a worm on a fly rod for trout fishing. It sounds sacrilegious, but it works out great. Fish in the little holes along the bank, and the pools that get backed up. Your 4 year old should have a great time just playing and exploring. PM me for any other advice. |

Greer is awsome! My Uncle owns a cabin up there and when I was younger, my cousings and I would spend most of the summer's up there doing nothing but fishing, riding dirt bikes and taking it easy.
I haven't been back in a while, but I want to go adn take my kids there for a long weekend. |
