So lets say you have one of those duel gun style locking gun racks in your SUV with an AR and a shotgun sitting just behind the front seats in the middle. That's totally kosher in Az right? Law says thay have to be in a case, holster of scaboard correct? Besides getting grief from an officer there is nothing illegal about keeping them there or am I wrong? Obviously not to leave in the vehicle forever, but for running to the range or while out tooling in the desert or road trips up North etc.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I drive down the highway sometimes with my AR laying in the passenger seat - got pulled over that way once, and I even had a shotgun laying on the floorboard in the back. (I was predator hunting, BTW) The DPS cop was a bit nervous at first, especially since I'm in camo and all, but once he figured out things were on the level we had a great discussion about hunting with ARs.

Been meaning to get a rack for my truck, too. Buddy of mine has one of those Koplin UTV gun racks mounted in his suburban, in place of the console, and it works perfectly - pretty sure I'm gonna go that route for my Jimmy.

(Law says thay have to be in a case, holster of scaboard correct?) NOPE! Open in plain sight is just fine! Open carry state!

Nice, yeah I leave long arms laying in the back seat of the pick up quite often when I'm running around. Just wanted to ask the hive incase I read something wrong (or didn't read at all)

I keep the M4-gery close by when out in the desert..

I have driven from the house, out of town before with it in the rack. All you can see is the FH above the dash.

KB7DX, I'm pretty sure you've posted this picture before. Where can I get a mount like that?

My M1009 has built in rifle racks behind the drivers seat.  Not lockable though.
