| How the hell do you get rid of a refrigerator here? I have a fridge in my back yard which was with the house when I moved in. No one wants to touch a fridge. Short of dumping it in the nature, wtf do I do with it? |

DUDE-
disable the latch so some kid doesn't get in there.... or remove the door altogether. Then call your refuse company, see if they do an "appliance day" or see if the dump charges to take appliances. Coconino county does a biannual trash day, anything you take to them, they haul away, waste, hazmat, anything. City of Yuma does an appliance or white elephant day once a year. |

If you're in Phoenix, check this link:
http://phoenix.gov/GARBAGE/bopa.html ETA: There's not an event till June for that. However, as a Phoenix resident. you can take ONE fridge to the dump. But you MUST declare it at the entry. Refrigerators and CFC (Freon) containing appliances are acceptable from commercial sources only if the CFCs have been removed in accordance with EPA regulations and documentation of that removal is provided. City residents may bring in one CFC-containing appliance but must declare its presence when entering the facility. ETA 2: (sorry, I keep clicking links everywhere). You can also have it picked up from your curb for a fee (you have to call to find out how much). http://www.phoenix.gov/GARBAGE/applianc.html |
| I am in Prescott. The doors, shelves, and drawers have been removed and it is all piled in my back yard. I do not know if the refrigerant system is intact, I fear it is not. The junkers want a certificate stating the CFCs has been disposed of properly. The city requires a "certificate" for appliances as well: http://www.cityofprescott.net/services/trash/#cleanup |

Don't APS and SRP both have a program for picking up extra refrigerators? I think they even give a $30 rebate for them. Something to look into anyway. IIRC, they have to be in "Good Working Order". I don't think the one the OP has will qualify, because it has no freon and stuff. |

How the hell do you get rid of a refrigerator here? Come on, Kris, is this a real question?! Tannerite, baby! Otherwise go with that Craigslist ad; just make sure you are strapped with gats when some weirdo shows up to your house to haul off your appliances and/or whatever else he feels like taking. |
