My truck was covered with embedded grit, from midline on the body panels upward, and every horizontal surface including glass.  Scrubbing and soap wouldn't touch it.  Windex would not clean the glass.  I scraped the glass with a razor blade and a very fine brown shiny dust resulted.  I had to use rubbing compound to clean the paint, a car cleaner wax would not touch it.  This shit was hard to remove.  No pitting on the glass is apparent and the paint is undamaged, other than the fact I used compound on it.

Anyone else experience this?  Is it volcanic ash?

Odd thing is an identical truck parked 4 feet away had none of this stuck to it.  Both trucks were spotless before the wind and rain.

More than likely, you parked near a tree, and it released a small amount of sap, happens alot when it's hot. The sap probly picked up the crap from the storm and now its stuck to the truck. Claying would be your best bet. It's available at most car stores like checker, or autozone. It's very time intensive if your doing it yourself. A body shop or detail shop will charge over 150 to do it, but it includes a detail of the car as well.
If your not experienced with cars, you might want to pay a body shop, you could end up scratching the hell out of your car.
Here's a basic website that shows the claying.

I would guess your homeowners or auto insurance would cover it!
