The GF and I are tired of having to drive 45 minutes plus to get out far enough to go shooting in the desert or down to Casa Grande at the Elze Person Range. Can anyone tell me about the Phoenix Rod & gun Club? Any memebers here? What are the downsides to membership or going there? Are the facilities ok? How are the other members? The Range Masters? Any inputs would be appreciated.

There are multiple divisions in the club.  What are you interested in?
Hi-power rifle?  IDPA?  Bowling pins?

Right now punching holes in paper. I just want a range thats close by and not staffed with short rangemasters with a Napoleon attitude. Friendly members and nice facilities would be nice too.

The facility is decent enough.  I avoid the public range like the plague due to to many holes in the roof and the numbskulls that put them there.
As a member, you can go in during the week when the public isn't allowed.
I shoot practical matches there and that division is good people.

where are you located?  I am near I10 and Chandler rd and it takes me 50 minutes to go to Casa Grande or 35-40 minutes to Rod & Gun during regular traffic.  For the extra few minutes, its worth going to Casa Grande, esp on weekends if you ever seen the "public" on the public range at Rod & Gun.

Also consider Rio Salado - great range with great facilities, especially for members. So long as you don't want to shoot cans of paint and household appliances, either of these ranges should work well for you.
