I've only been here a very short time and already I've had people comment on how "in California we have XYZ" and I'm thinking "well go back, this ain't Cali." I've also had others from Canada and across the US comment how much they like AZ and aren't actively trying to change it.

20 yrs or so ago, there was a local radio personality that use to refer to Az as "the west's most mid-western town".
While there are many midwestern transplants in Az, I've never noticed them bringing their politics and such with them as the Kalifornicators do. I never understood why someone would want to move away from a place, only to want to make their new home more like what they left behind? If what you left behind was so great, why did you leave? Az needs to secure its southern border, as well as its western border. |

I work with several transplants; some from Kali; and some from the East, who are unbelievably liberal, complete with Obama bumper stickers. I mean we're talking; vegan, no gun, socialist everything, anti-military, labor camps for conservatives, open borders, kill Rush, Hannity, and Laura.... And they're breeding. Any guess how they're going to raise their kids? In my office we're forbidden to talk about anything controversial, so as not to offend the libs. So far, they're still outnumbered. Today I stopped to shop at the Wal Mart Marketplace at Baseline & 24th St. I parked down near the PetSmart. Two spaces down from me was an older Jeep Wrangler with the following bumper stickers on his hitch; "Wal Mart is communism" and "Destroy Capitalism". Also present were a Canadian and British flag decal. I HAD to stick around to see who this douche-nozzle was! Well, lo and behold!, out of the Pet Smart came this late twenty-something or early thirty-something quasi-Oriental dude loading his Jeep up with 50-lb bags of dog chow. I made eye contact, made a face and walked away, shaking my head. I sure hope he got the message from the guy with the Marine Veteran license plate that he was a disappointment and ought to go back to Canada or Britan if he thought their style of government was so much better! 
Oh, no blading, no adrenaline dump. Sorry. He wasn't worth the effort!

Az needs to secure its southern border, as well as its western border. my family has ranched in southern az since the 1870's. we now have sub-divisionsbordering us, and it's common that they move out of town then they want to bring the laws of the city that they like and try and force them here. if they like those laws they should move back! this is a problem ranchers have been puting up with for 30 -40 years. now with the ivasion of az all native arizonaian's are dealing with it. |

You were painting with a broad brush and I tried to show you that all conservatives aren't like that. But apparently you're so set in your beliefs that you're not accepting any outside viewpoints. Good luck with that. I was against the Iraq war before we went in, but once in I was as supportive as I could be. And I didn't buy into any of the "War for oil", "Bush lied people died" or "illegal war" crap. Because it was and is untrue. And while I believe the war was fully justified, I still don't think it was the best course of action. No one has called me anti American or a terrorist sympathizer for it. If someone called you that I suspect you went a bit over the line with the anti war propaganda. Set aside your anger for a moment and ask yourself if that's not the case. Something tells me you're an extremist in your views. That's fine. But there's a price to pay for being "out there", and if you can't take the heat then I suggest you either stick with folks that share your views, which apparently isn't arfcom, or open your mind and see if maybe those who disagree with you might be right. Arf is a pretty broad spectrum from religious conservatives to atheist libertarians, if they all think your views are whacked then there's a good chance that they are in fact, whacked. Might want to consider that. But I'm a working man and my time for this is over. |
