I hope I'm not violating any rules by posting this here, but I'm the assistant organizer for this meetup group for the phoenix area.
http://www.meetup.com/Phoenix-Target-and-Tactical-Shooters/ I didn't come up with the name by the way. Check it out, there's people of all skill levels in it, most members don't own ARs or anything like that, but we have done stuff where everyone had a AR or AK, and did bounding drill and whatnot. |
|
Some of the people meet up at BA or the casa grande range, also the desert is where I'm trying to get people to go who want to do some serious training, the kind of stuff most ranges won't allow. Stuff like 360 scans, shooting while moving, firing from behind baricades, and from inside vehicles, is something most ranges won't allow or can't even be done.
Although we have used to pit at the casa grande police range before. |
| We used to have a monthly group that met at Ben Avery until the game and fish nazis came in and took over. We even did sub gun training and fire under cars and from behind barricades. They came in and they ranges were now unavailable for us and we had several instructors that were great to work with. Now the range we used to use is filled with Phoenix cops all the time, send them to their own fucking range and off the public one. |

I followed your link. Looks interesting. Is there a tin-foil helmet, troofer, militia type presence is there? I have no idea what other member's feelings on those matters are, I don't discuss them. I would not want to, it would turn off many members and potential members. We have done some training that I'm sure if some people saw a video of it, they would think it's "ZOMG domestic terrorist militia training!!" Although, yes there is a militia presence there, since most of our members are by law part of the unorganized militia. I am trying to get most of the members away from using ranges, since they aren't conducive to anything resembling real training beyond basic marksmanship on paper targets only. The problem is, people don't want to drive an hour out into the desert, getting people to train in an air conditioned indoor range is hard enough. |
