Concealed handgun permit holders are the target of a recent report issued by the Violence Policy Center, an anti-gun advocacy organization that says, "Gun violence is more than a crime issue; it is a broad-based public health crisis of which crime is merely the most recognized aspect." The report, entitled "Law Enforcement and Private Citizens Killed by Concealed Handgun Permit Holders," is quite possibly the shoddiest piece of investigative research available –– an obvious effort to manipulate a particular set of circumstances to support the Center's efforts to undermine Second Amendment rights. The report relies on news stories rather than hard data to support its claims that between May 2007 and April 2009, permit holders were responsible for the deaths of 51 people.

As Bob Owens of Pajamas Media notes in his analysis, "Of the 31 incidents cited by the Violence Policy Center in its report, eight did not involve the use of concealed weapons. One used no weapon at all, four used rifles, one was a negligent discharge, and three were incidents of domestic violence where non-concealed handguns were used." Owens concludes, "All told, 30 of the 57 people that the Violence Policy Center suggested were killed as a result of concealed carry should not have been included in any study citing concealed carry of handguns as a significant contributing factor."

The VPC is funded to the tune of $700,000 per year by The Joyce Foundation, where Barack Obama served as director from 1994-2002. In 1999, Joyce began a significant attack on 2nd Amendment rights, a move that ultimately had bearing in the Heller Supreme Court appeal. While Obama maintains that he supports individual Second Amendment rights, the actions of the Joyce Foundation that he directed, and the latest attempt by the VPC to tag concealed carry permit holders as the villains, should serve as a reminder that the Left will never stop trying to subvert our fundamental constitutional rights.

Just think if we had government run healthcare. They could ban firearms because they increased the risk of injury.

And this is why gentlemen we as firearms owners need to be responsible in the way we deal with the public. The yahoos involved with this garbage-riddled story didnt care about facts. They focused on a couple of unfortunate incidents and now want to cast a bad light upon us CCW-holders.

The sheeple will believe this tooth and nail! Then the Feinsteins and Lautenbergs will strike! Let us act responsibly and cautiously while exercising our 2A rights!

Not if, but when....(God I hope I'm wrong - this coming from a self-employed "buy my own ridiculously overpriced insurance policy" guy.)

Wait until they go through your records and find that you've taken an "anti-depressant"......hey, you're not mentally capable now, so NO CCW for YOU!.

I think that would be a very likely scenario.   The .gov now has access to all health-care records, they'll search them for any "keywords" (known as ICD-9's or diagnosis codes)during your NICS check and anything suspicious.....you'll be disqualified for a CCW.

Think about it, how many of you have been on some type of anti-depressant/xanax type medication before, even if for short term, or to help you sleep (think Xanax.)  How do you think the .gov would see that.

It'll go something like this...  "This guys been depressed, medicated, and clinically shown to suffer from a mental illness, there's no way he should be allowed to carry a weapon."

Scary.

This is a fucking joke, there are roughly 3 to 7 million people in the Unites States with a Concealed Weapons permit. What percent is that off the top?

These people need to be held accountable for their words. This is why we need to know the facts when we speak to these libtards. I'm sure they have companies donating them money does anyone know how to find out that information. We should start a web page dedicated to those who are helping these groups with money.

Let's see....51 killed, nationwide, over two years.

My guess is that more people than that have been killed swallowing a soda too fast.

How is that news?

Even if it was true, which it has been proven it is a total lie, that's against 1.5 million crimes stopped or prevented by citizens carrying handguns annually.

Stuff like this makes me quit reading.....granted it was at the very end.  But you won't win over any support with this bullshit, you just end up preaching to the choir.

Why does everything have to be so biased?  Couldn't they put something other than "left" in there?  Its not like the "right" was so much better with our Constitutional Rights.

It just the headlines that make this study stand out.  But If you look deeply, this

organization VPC, is so small and all they need is some main stream media to take

on their Headline.
