Did you check with the Capitol Police Dept?  When I worked with them they had cameras on those lots.  Maybe not help, but worth a try anyways....

$1300 for a cat??

ETA:  IIRC, a Tacoma cat is a bolt in part.  You should be able to do this yourself for under $300.

there is a rash of cat thefts on Toyota trucks - this and they are cutting the cable that holds your spare in one clip. You might want to make a wire cable lock so they can't get your spare tire either.

I don't know anything about this company or product, but take a look:

why a'm I killing you ? an aftermarket high flow cat works as well or better than the factory cat . and magnaflo /carsound are one of the best made .they will often reduce restriction and make more power also. and it is very easy to weld up flanges to it so it goes back to the original bolt on factory spec. all in all the whole job runs about between $169.00 and $200.00 installed . FYI  ,I know what I'm doing and have an ADEQ  fleet inspctor's license ,fleet agents license, and have been doing this for over 20 years.and a lot of these thieves use a portable battery powered saw to cut them off .

I think because just a couple days after he shelled out 1300 bucks he found out a fellow ARFCOMER could have done the work for a fraction of the cost.  I don't think he was questioning the validly of yourself or an aftermarket cat.

Had the same thing happen to me on my GMC.  LOL I feel your pain but a new cat only cost me 75 bucks.

If only the places buying the used cats would require a photo ID and proof of where the cat came from ,that would slow down the thefts .

Cats?  What cats?

.....says WRX owner (AWD), that can't be sniffed!  (they don't have 4 wheel drive rollers!)

I don't think it would actually keep them from trying to steal "something" though....
