Look at the signs, many are shot up pretty bad. Hopefully they will make a recreation area out there so we will have another option away from BA.

The people shooting during this ban are breaking the law. They just make all of us law abiding citizens look bad. The problem is the BLM has no law enforcement division. They depend on the county sheriff's for policing the areas. So if you or anybody else happens to see somebody shooting, when they shouldn't be, call sheriff Joe. |

This was a long discussion at one of the Table Mesa planning meetings. We were told by BLM personnel that they had nobody to patrol the area. There response was to call the local sheriff. If you could get further info, phone numbers and names, I would appreciate it. |

I'm kinda confused on this, maybe you all can help clarify.
looking at the BLM link posted above the only restriction I see on shooting is the following under Arizona Strip District: Discharging a firearm outside of taking game in accordance with Arizona hunting laws. So yes target shooting/training/etc. would be out, but rabbit/coyote hunting is still okay, right? also, what exactly is covered by the Arizona Strip District? I have been using AZGFD info to help me understand what/when/where I can shoot but now I'm concerned that I've left out a necessary resource by not looking into BLM more. also, I'm assuming that because they have a specific restriction for 'discharging a firearm', that shooting is not included in 'Use of Fireworks, flares, or other incendiary devices'. please let us know if this is inaccurate. |

The rules pertaining to the fireworks, flares, etc. are likely part of their "fire restrictions" which apply during the "fire season" which varies around the state. If you need shooting info from the BLM call your nearest office and speak with one of the law enforcement rangers. BLM hires alot of new rangers so you may want to ask for the lead ranger or chief ranger. Also make sure you specify a law enforcement ranger or you may wind up talking to a park ranger who probably doesn't know the rules as well as the LE. |
