I just applied...mind giving my app a push? David N |

Been there and done that.
Managers are on a power trip, and if you applied for a "support" position - be prepared to sell the shit out of their products, as they require their "support personnel" to sell shit. It sucks. I quit after 4 months, and after meeting Bob Parsons. Asshole extraordinaire. YMMV, but I don't even claim the place on my resume. |

As I mentioned to the OP in an IM, I worked there for about 3 years and I concur with everything Choadlywan says. Bob is so full of himself and paranoid that before he walked through his own building, he made his armed security walk through first. At the Xmas party at a Snottsdale resort he bought out he had his security is suits with Secret Service-esque earpieces in making sure he was safe. The guy throws money around, but you feel like you are bought property there. Most of the managers are retired or ex military which in itself is not a bad thing, but most of them have no real leadership experience in a corporate atmosphere. You get barked at and punished. Most of my friends from there have been screwed over and/or fired for no reason. If you have no other job, take what you can get. If you have other options, take them. Trust us. Check out NoDaddy for horror stories from current and ex-employees as well as customers.

Well I have never worked for GoDaddy myself but at my last gig as a Sys Admin we hired a lady that that used to work for them and said it was a nightmare. On the other hand I met a guy in one of my classes that likes it. I personally am not a big fan of them due to the fact that they are over priced. I went through to setup a domain and get their hosting and they wanted close to 200 bucks just to do that. No way I now pay 5 bucks a month to host and 10 bucks on a domain name. Sorry didn't mean to go off on a rant.

Here's one tidbit for us 2A supporters, the company is extremely anti-gun or any weapon for employees. They aren't allowed in your car, you can't bring a knife. One guy got fired for bringing a steak knife in to cut his dinner. There is one sharp knife in security for parties when people have cake to cut it. I got called in the director's office because he and a VP were at the Walmart across the street from SGC, which they shot at often during lunch, probably to buy ammo, ran into me buying a new gun case and ammo. They saw me, looked embarassed made some smartass remark about not shooting up the place. I laughed and said, no I was just going shooting in the morning and wanting to pick up some ammo now instead of on the way home. I specifically parked off property as to not break the "rule". I was called in the office, told my truck would not be searched but to use more discretion. Later my manager, an active shooter and a guy I bought a gun from, called me in his office and said they were about ready to search my vehicle, they would have found the ammo and fired me. He was cool (he was later fired for something minor) but I respectfully told them I wasn't on their property so there was no way in hell I was gonna let them search my vehicle and even if I were on property they better have Scottsdale PD there to do it as I'm not going to let a security guard search it either. He said he agreed with me, but knew they would have just fired me if I refused, which I had seen them do. Godaddy pays out a lot of termination without cause or discrimination lawsuits they don't like to talk about. They payout so they don't get in the news for anything other than their commericials.
The funny part is Bob Parsons is a platinum member at SGC. Twice I saw him buying guns, one was a Class III during work hours. I also saw him buy 2 of his plain clothes security Nighthawk Custom 1911's as their carry guns. I'd stay away like the plague. I had one buddy try to get me back hired after some management change, but I refused. |

I'm not 100% sure thinks he actually needs all the security he uses or just likes how it looks. The manager that was a shooter and cool one that I mentioned was fired was or is a member here. I'm not 100% on the cause for his firing, but the rumor was it was pretty minor. I haven't talked to him since he left so if he is reading this, hit me up with an IM. |

I started on the phones about 5 years ago, and worked on them for a little over a year. I am sure things have changed alot, but they do focus on sales for sure. If you have worked tech support/sales before then you shouldn't have an issue. You can't beat the benefits, and you have a decent chance for advancement after 90 days I think you can apply for other internal job openings. I started on the phones, moved to Desktop support, then to the data centers. My wife and brother also work there, and they both started on the phones as well. |
Just laughing at some of the hilarity that's been posted in this thread. Quoted:

You're related to Kappy? I went to his funeral; the Richard Cheese was a great touch, especially at the end of the service. Listen to the Heffelfinger, he's given you the best advice in this thread so far. Every time I run into a thread about GD on the internet there's always a bunch of sour grapes. GD is a very different work environment than most people are used to. It's a weird mix between DotCom Startup and Traditional Corporate with a whole bunch of WarCrack-playing computer nerds mixed in with starched shirt executive types. Some people thrive in that environment, and some people don't. Semper Gumby. As far as the anti-gun thing goes.... well, most major employers aren't going to let you bring your Glock in and clean it at your desk while you munch on a bagel and take phone calls. They do this so they can get and keep insurance coverage; the actuaries run everyone's life. Unfortunately that's the reality of the world we live in. Hey, they also block ar15.com from being accessed on their internal network, maybe you guys should band together and boycott them for that, too? Bob is definitely eccentric, most self-made multi-jillionaires are. GD has done some things poorly, and many things exceptionally well. It's a formula that no one wants to futz around with too much since it's working. While most businesses in this day and age are laying off employees left and right and cutting non-essentials, the GDizzle is still hiring, still expanding, still growing. I just wish they'd finally get that IPO thing off the ground for realz so I can retire.
David, I can't help you with your app since the department you're applying for is outside the scope of my influence, however, I wish you luck and urge you to give it a fair shot before you listen to any naysayers OR cheerleaders. If it's not your can of Jolt cola you can always look for something else. In the meantime, you'll have a steady job with decent pay, excellent benefits, and an entertaining bunch of lunatics to have fun with while you search for something else. Just remember, if Mike liked it so much, and you'd like the same things in a work environment that he did, then there just might be something to it. |

+1 to all of what Napalm says. Give it a chance. For being so "Anti Gun" there are sure a ton of gun lovers who work here. I have had my Dillon calendar up since I moved off the floor, and many a VP have stopped and looked and admired whatever month was up at the time. Many people in the Scottsdale location go to SGC during lunch and blast off some rounds. I have also seen more than one person with a shot target hanging in their cube.
I also don't have any pull in the call center side of things, but you shouldn't have an issue getting in. When you get hired and into things, hit me up if you have any questions. |

+1 to all of what Napalm says. Give it a chance. I have to agree. A job is a job. As previously posted, I hated it. It was not for me - I'm an IT professional, not a sales drone. What was advertised for, what I was hired for, and what I was actually told to do are separate things. the... person.... immediately over me hated the idea that I was a) smarter, b) a better tech and c) much better looking than he was. (ok, maybe not C, but the rest of it certainly...) He took every and any opportunity to deride me for not selling. The finall straw was when he was (literally) screaming at me, on the floor, because I had not sold something to the (very irate) person I just spent 2 hours fixing an issue for. Having had enough of this childish behavior, I pulled out my job description and asked him to underline the parts where it said I was supposed to sell things. He could not (I'm told it changed shortly thereafter), so I told him to take his software package, fold it until it was all nice sharp pointy corners and stuff it up his ass. He was astounded by this and yelled "NOBODY TALKS TO ME LIKE THAT!" - I said, "I guess I must be nobody, cause I just did. Get fucked. " He was stunned, and couldn't say a word. He stood there with his mouth flapping like a fish, eyes all agog. I grabbed my gear and walked out the door. Never to return or do business again. So - if it's your cup of tea, run with it. My intent was not to scare him off, but simply to warn him that it's not an IT position, or even a support position. It's a sales position, where you have to fix stuff. |
| Here is a question you have to ask yourself, and what I asked myself before I spoke up, are you the type of man that can sit next to rep, listen to them outright lie to a customer or watch them slam credit cards for more than what they told the customer for either fear of being fired or demoted to s shitty position or simply because your morals and ethics don't care? Well I cared, damned the consequences and reported it. I got pushed out for my effort in being an upstanding, moral and ethical person. |

Disgruntled GoDaddy employees e-mail your reps supporting this state bill to stick it to the man!
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– HB 2474 stipulates that property owners, tenants, public or private employers, and business entities must not prohibit the transport or storage of legally owned firearms in locked and privately owned motor vehicles parked within parking lots, parking garages, and other designated parking areas. It exempts property owners, tenants, public or private employers, business entities, and their employees or agents from civil liability for damages resulting from or arising out of an act involving a legally owned firearm that is transported or stored within a locked and privately owned vehicle. It allows employers and business entities to prescribe policies mandating that owners keep firearms out of the plain view of the public when stored or transported in locked and privately owned vehicles. And, it specifies inapplicability stemming from state and federal prohibition, and motor vehicle ownership. We urge everyone to contact your Representatives and politely ask them to support HB 2474 with no floor amendments, except those proposed by the sponsor, when it is debated in the COW on Thursday, May 7, 2009. You can find your Representatives here: http://www.azleg.gov/alisStaticPages/HowToContactMember.asp . If you wish to send an email to every Representative, the following are lists of the Arizona House of Representatives in both semi-colon and comma separated formats. Use the one that is compatible with your email software. While we’ve seen some bobbing, weaving and obfuscating judging from some of the responses you have shared with us, Representatives Frank Antenori, Judy Burges, Steve Yarbrough and Senators Russell Pearce and Jack Harper have told us that they intend to stay after the budget is resolved and be present for any floor votes that come up. All it takes is a few legislators to leave and the session is effectively over. In Arizona, a bill must pass out of the House and Senate by a majority of elected legislators, not simply by a majority of those who show up to vote. A bill needs 16 votes in the Senate and 31 votes in the House to pass. If only a handful of legislators decide to leave and not vote, and the 16 or 31 vote majority is not obtained, important legislation will not pass. |

So......
anyone work security for them? I emailed in a resume a few months back and have been approached by their recruiters / hiring a few times even though I told them the first time that their offered salary was too low <they haven't offered an increase yet>
