Well, I made the drive from Prescott and arrived at the show Sunday about 10 A.M. After the $7 dollars parking and the $12 x 2 to enter (no lines) I was actually impressed by the number of vendors. But now I'm down some serious coin just to enter the show. My worst fears were realized when the first table I visited had C Products 30 rounders for $24.95. Almost cried. Several places on the net now offer them for about $9.95. I ventured on and ooo'd and aaaw'd at abundance of ARs, AKs, AR lowers, handguns,etc....But as hard as I looked....very little ammo; at least not any that wouldn't have required a second on the house. I did see 100 rd. Federal. 223 Value Packs from WalMart going for $50. Still I ventured forward.....
After about an hour and still not buying anything I came to realize I needed to drop some coin so the trip wouldn't be a total loss. What did i buy you ask? Well I thought I could cheaply increase my parts cache.....WRONG. AR bolt cam pins, $8-$12. Standard firing pins, $20. Firing pin retainers, $3. You gotta be kidding me? You can buy this stuff all day long for 25-50% of what these clowns were asking. I did buy a soft AR case. $25. I'm OK with that. A .223 broken shell extractor. $5 .OK Rail add-on mount for my shotgun. $12 OK 6 CR 123(U.S.) batteries. $12. OK Rail riser for a flat top AR, $15 OK Boy did I get screwed. I think from now on, I just keep shopping on-line. |

My Father's friend just filled him in on the prices there, $100/1000 primers (thats $500 per sleeve) according to gun broker though 5000 primers will sell for about $1000, 500 rounds of ammo for $300. Also said by noon Saturday all ammo and reloading components were sold out.
We thought about going but then we have never been to a gun and found a good deal, especially now, the next gun show will probably have more junk vendors at it as gun vendors will have little stock or people will have even less $$$ to buy stuff with. With the costs of reloading components for small calibers, its actually cheaper to shoot the 50BMG, at least you get a big phuqing BANG for your buck.
As it was though we got new SS appliances and are much happier with it than paying inflated prices on gun stuff, its good to see that the OP didn't fall victim to the idiot prices and get taken advantage, I'm with you buy it online its cheaper even if you have to pay tax or shipping or both. |
