WooHoo! I've now got two, probably going to be three and eventually more acres of property in Arizona.
My mother in law owns quite a bit of land down around Dateland, and the wife and I got some as a wedding present, and we are probably going to buy some more from her soon. It's undeveloped, but zoned and ready for housing. We'll be working on the property over the next few years making it a retirement/vacation home. It's bordered by some BLM land too, so hopefully that means I won't ever have to worry about too much development. So yeah, nothing really to contribute with this post, but I'm glad I'm establishing a home base in a decent state with at least some semblance of common sense laws. And I promise I will NOT bring any of this stupid California asshattery with me. |

Where's Dateland? Its on Interstate 8, on the north side of the freeway, about 60 miles east of Yuma. Yuma Proving Grounds is just north and west of there. REAL small town, but I know they have had roads and lots plotted out for suburban development for years. |

"Dateland"?
Ugly in the middle of nowhere. I stayed their for a couple of weeks in the summer of 1978, while working on DoD land. We buried some stuff in the middle of the desert. At the time it had a Cafe and some little 1 room shacks that we rented. 115 degrees and no AC, just worn out swamp coolers. It would be 100 deg. at 1AM. FUBAR situation |
