I took the Arizona Defensive Driving School course today, a 4 hour course that, once every 2 years, allows a lowly citizen to expunge a non criminal traffic citation, something that didn't cause an accident. All I can say about the experience is I've rarely heard that much propaganda in such a short period. A few examples. 1. The average speed down the 101 where the infamous traffic cameras are located is 88 to 92 mph. Several of us called BS on that, and after a few minutes of pummeling her she admitted that was the average speed of the people clocked doing at least 3 mph over the limit, not the average speed of everyone driving that stretch. A typical way government skews data. 2. Guns and cars, they're no different. Driving your car through an intersection when the light is red light is no different than firing a gun through the same intersection. 3. If you loan your car to someone and they run someone down, you as the car owner will be held accountable. The same, according to her, if you loan your gun to someone and they kill someone with it. You are responsible for what your vehicle does, even if you're not driving it at the time. 4. Traffic cameras are not surveillance. If you don't speed, you have nothing to fear from traffic cameras. 5. The AZ government loses money off photo radar tickets. 6. Comparing traffic laws to cookie recipes. To wit, if we all just do exactly as we're told, it will all come out of the oven and be perfect! 7. If you hit another car while that other driver is breaking the law, and you weren't, you will be held partially responsible for the accident. 8. First thing she told us was that we are all "Professional drivers", but I was immediately reminded that if you have a CDL you're not allowed to take the class. Kind of put a to the whole "You are professional drivers" shtick.9. Honking at someone 2 times is OK, but a third time is Road Rage. So is flipping someone off or yelling at them. I'm waiting for "looking at someone crooked" to be called Road Rage too. 10. And the funniest one of all was when she insisted that the terms "shall not" left no room for argument. I'd love to hear her thoughts on the 2nd amendment. I bet she's a gun control fanatic. God knows she sounded like one. Honest, I'm not making this shit up. Oh, did I mention she's got a degree in Human Resources? I bet that's comes as a real shocker. Some of her propaganda would have been easy to debunk, but I didn't want to be there all day, and it was obvious that she's a dedicated government propagandist with no room for dissenting opinion. There is only one correct answer to any of her questions, and that is the one the government has given her to repeat. Anything else is paramount to killing children. I could go on, but I'm still reeling from the barrage of misinformation and emotion based argument. She did have some good info, too bad the 1 hour of good info was surrounded by 3 hours of unadulterated crap. |

I have no idea what the ratio of photo radar tickets to LEO written tickets were, but I suspect from the talk I heard, that it was high. Oh, but according to the teacher those photo radar tickets are NO different than tickets handed out by an LEO as a "real police officer" takes the case, does the research, and mails out the info. The propaganda is strong in that one. |
Where the bloody hell where you when I posted the other thread asking about this stuff? Oh well, it doesn't matter, that school isn't accepted in either of the cities I got my tickets in. Besides, there was this cute chickie snack in the seat in front of me with pants that only came halfway up her ass. No, I didn't take pictures, so don't ask. |
| Strange. I've been to 2 traffic classes and the individual talking to us was kinda funny and knew it was BS, so they just rehashed all the info you'd get from learning how to drive. This was about 8 years ago though. Last one I did online and it was almost as bad as going for one long day. |
to the whole "You are professional drivers" shtick.
