I don't know how much use this will be, but here is a great resource for non LEO folks. NICB, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, offers a free service. Anyone can check the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) through NICB's database. VINs can be located on the dashboard, most driver side door frames, on some firewalls, and on some confidential locations on most cars. If anyone wonders, NICB has a huge database. It's not the same as the FBIs NCIC database, but I've always been amazed at how much information they have. The large majority of law enforecement agencies are members. Here is a link to their page. Keep in mind that not all LE angencies are members, but most in AZ are. Cars reported stolen in most of AZ will be in this database. NICB |

That's pretty cool. A really nice tool for those who buy used cars from private sellers. The AZ Attorney Generals office has run a similar site for a couple years now. How accurate it may be, I don't know. Here is the URL: theftaz.azag.gov/ |
