I know Im not from AZ but id like some help. I depped into the army and am leaving for fort begging for your life georgia on jan 7 of 08. While researching the army i found that the military pays upon retirement to move you your family and all your crap anywhere you want. once. well i hope to make it the whole 20(hopefully more years) and have decided on arizona. one for the ninth circuit court thing, and the climate, and the terrain. ive looked on numerous realty sites, gun laws websites and things like that. my recruiter reserved the job i want. 11xray with option 40. thats one station unit training for infantry with a chance to attend ranger school soon after. obviously my employment may be Law enforcment upon retirement. Ok so my question is this (and ive google my ass off tryin to find it myself) where in arizona should i look that has these features -close to schools -does not defer from normal state gun laws -is far enought away to shoot a rifle just about any direction -has a medium to large police force -has entertainment 1 hour or less away -is at least 20 miles for mexican border The biggest things im lookin for are 2,3,4. also note. i feel like im intruding already by being int th az hometown forum so if you dont want me here a simple stfu will do. thanks RedOx1 - |

Arizona is growing so rapidly things change day to day week to week I was born here and its hard to believe its the same place. Asking for reccomendations on where you may to move to in 20plus years is not the best way to spend your time nor mine. Do push ups instead....then in 19 1/2 years email me and Ill be more than happy to point you in a good direction. By then Casa Grand and Wickenburg and gila bend and globe will all be one big city named nuevaphoenixciamexizona |

It's pretty unrealistic to plan the exact location of a 20 year off retirement. It's great that you're thinking ahead....obviously your young, and not many do that. BUT, the way things are changing in this country, a place that meets your expectations now may NOT in just a couple years....let alone 20. I've been here 0ver 20 years....MUCH is virtually unrecognizeable to what it was then. Factor in border/Illegal Imm. issues....who knows what this place will be in even 4-5 years.Hell, I call Tucson North Nogales anymore. And I just moved WAY north, east of Flag in BFE...if it isn't better...i'm heading even further north... to Wyoming if I have to, to find "my place". All it takes is some more California granola eating, anti gun, lets make this state a shithole like the one they came from ASSHOLES to change things bigtime here. OR, a few politicians that think that way! Prescott & Flag have been ruined already...but at least there's not groups of illegals on every corner....just the Californians I spoke of...hmmm, I don't know whats worse just my 2 cents |
Are you saying the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals is a good thing? If you're pro gun I think your mistaken about the 9th. Their all crazy commie nutcases from CA (and I'm a native Californian!). The 9th is one of the few bad things about this state. |
True but keep in mind just because someone is from CA it doesn't mean their a hippy commie. It really depends on where in CA they are from. If they are from the following there is a very high chance they are a granola eating anti gun commie: San Franfreako Sacromento Los Angeles If they are from pretty much anywhere else in CA there is a much better chance they are a far more reasonable person. I'm from San Diego (I've lived here for 10 years) and most of the people I know from San Diego are not at all anti gun, granola eating hippy bastards. Most of them are fed up with the BS. That is why many of them come here. But yes some people from CA come here to fuck this place up too. |
I think I described the type of Californian that IS THE PROBLEM pretty well .......AND, going by MY experience here...the vast majority of Cali's I'VE met that are recent transplants ARE the granola eatin', anti-gun pieces of shit that i described...and I'll bet many on here have had the same experience. SURE, there are acceptions like yourself...if the shoe don't fit...don't wear it. |

RedOx1, Bud you've got WAY more on your plate you should be thinking about rather that 20+ years from now. Once you get done pushing the earth away from you about a million times and all the other stuff the ARMY traines you for, this whole country will have changed so much it probably won't even be funny. By then, the places like Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and other Midwestern states where things haven't (hopefully) gone totally outta whack, are the places that everyone will want to move to. Like others have said though, best of luck in the Army. |
If you want to plan something plan on saying "YES DRILL SARGENT!!" to everything and if they tell you something that makes no sense then you heard it right. Plan on this everyone around you knows someone who has done this before and as soon as we get to the next phase it will be way easier, only its not and its like that after basic and its like that at mobe and its like that in kuwait and its like that your first month 'in country' and the last one is the only one thats right because once you get settled in running missions getting away from the fobbits things are so good you'll want to reup this military thing is a real love hate relationship, but its awesome. Oh yeah about the AZ thing if there were a place like you described I'd have moved there. Just for the shooting from your house thing you'll need big acreage and thats on buck board dirt roads hours from delightful metropolitan areas such as Williams and Seligman, and the closest metro police dept will be two to three hours away and you'll have a well or hauled water and shitty cell phone reception. AZ does kick ass though
