Unusual Receivers-

I went by the Pistol Parlor in Mesa, AZ and they had these unusual AR-15 lowers that had some of the mag well on the port side cut out.  Has anyone seen these?  O think they were made by LAR.

Why would they cut that out?  Is it overproduction from a run for another company?

Sounds jookie to me.  Who would want that nonsense?

Skeletonized receivers, how much did they want for one?

Not a bad price, wouldn't mind getting one because you don't see to many of them, not sure how they hold up though.

Iteresting, how many did they have, do you recall?

If I had to guess, I would guess that the company LAR made them for didn't pay their bill and stuck them with a batch of lowers. The only legal way to sell them would be to cut the other name off and re-mark them. It's expensive, but it’s the only way to re-coup any of the time/material that went into them...

I saw them too, dual air vents in the mag well.  There were two rectangular holes each about 2" long and 3/4" high.  One on top of the other.  I put it down and said, "No thanks, show me the Sun Devil."

Some outfit in Florida was selling them on Gunbroker.

skeletonized lowers

They look okay.  Maybe they'd be good if you used clear mags or mags with a witness window?

C'mon tfod, buy one and do the torture test for us.

You know that you are just itching to.

If you decide you don't like it I'll buy/trade you out of it at a highly discounted rate.

It is still a step above some of the other offerings in appeal, but I would rather not.

Judging by the pics I would say garryowen is right on where these came from.

Looks like someone's trying to recoup their losses on a mistake by calling it a feature.

Looks like something different just for the sake of being different.

Yep. Serial number is still in the standard spot but manufacturer and model number have been machined away and relocated to each side above the trigger.

I just had an idea.

This would be the perfect thing for me to shave a few more grams off of the SBR I want to build by the end of this year.

(Roadies/Weight Weenies Rule!  All you MTB'ers to the back of the bus!)

Motorcyclist, roadie, MTB, are all road butter to, and owned by a Yugo.

Let me know when you want to do the SBR, we can help.

Like Mr. Mccracken said it would be neat with a clear mag.

Maybe I can track down a converted S&W 39 (ASP) and make an interesting set.

I think I took the last two they had in stock.....

I'll build one for my dad for fathersday and another for a lightweight SBR.

Judging from where the holes are, I'll guess that they were lowers from a company that didn't use a logo or a thin one with a few letters, maybe??  hmmmmm  I think I know who.

It might have look cool if they had done same cuts on both sides but the one sided look does have the apearance of a botched job.

But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong....................
