I've got jury duty coming up (AZ Superior Court, Pima County) and was wondering what the procedure/ requirements were to declare/ check a weapon at the courthouse? IIRC they have secure storage, right? Cause I'd sure as hell prefer not to leave it in my car.
Anyone have experience with this?

Ya I went for a ticket and they have a storage spot. you give then the weapon and your name and they give you a ticket and when you return you give the ticket and you get the weapon back. I only had a knife but they give you a ticket and store it in a locker. I am not sure but a bringing a gun to a Govt building might be illegal. I do not know for sure though. Might just want to look it up.

Is the weapon storage at security (ie. by the metal detectors) or somewhere else? Their website doesn't have any info about it.

I had jury duty not too long ago.  In Seattle, I can can tell you they get pretty nervous when you don't go to the correct door when you declare a firearm.  The officers that took it once I was directed to the right place were great.  Gave me a claim ticket and stored it away.  Oh, they do prefer it not be loaded....

Thanks for the reply, does that mean I should pull my SIG out and clear it in front of them?

Just run in the front door with it above your head while shouting "I've got a gun!" and they will take care of the rest.  This works well in airports as well.....

Enough guys.

When you get to the entrance just tell them you need to check your weapon. Usually they will want you to place it in the locker because they don't want the liability of handling it.  They know the drill and they know that they are required to let you check it.

thanks for the serious (and humorous) replies guys. I'm hoping it will be a non-issue (IE my group isn't needed) as the summons date is the first day of classes, so if it went more than 1 day I'd be missing class.
