I am looking at getting my 1st SBR here and need a little help.  I know about the ATF paperwork but I have questions about the actual rifle.

I am looking at a John Noveske 10.5" barrel.  What would be the best route?  I am probably picking up a new AR here next month (A3 style) and will probably put a EOTECH on it.  Would it be "easy" to just replace the barrel later with the 10.5 and handguards or is there a lot more into it than that?

The barrel alone is around $250 but they do sell complete uppers to around $1100.  I know nothing when it comes to SBR's, only that I want one.

Any help would be great!

For overall accuracy and reliable function I would not go shorter than an 11.5" barrel ... just my . 02 cents....

You don't buy an SBR for accuracy.  I wouldn't get a fancy barrel or anything.  You can get a tricked out SBR upper for $600 with everything you need.

I'll second that. If I ever saw someone with a high-powered scope, 2 stage trigger and bipod on his SBR I might have to slap him.

Yea, I actually am looking at the CMMG complete uppers.  They have 10.5 and 11.5" complete uppers for $525 - $625.  Thinking about the 11.5" upper and getting a lower for it.

Lowers I am looking at STAG ARMS or LMT.  Any experience with either of these lowers?

LMT also makes some nice uppers.  As for the lower, I'd go with a SBR from Ameetec.  That way, you don't have to worry about engraving your info on the lower.

Thanks for the Ameetec idea, they are only a few miles from where I live!

Exactly what info do we have to have engraved on the lower?

Would probably be sufficient but I wasnt sure how the ATFE would react, so I was as specific as I could be about the weapon on my FORM 1.

Ahh, we have 10.5 and 11.5 uppers also.....

I was thinking about 10.5" upper but a lot of people say go with the 11.5 because of issues with the 10.5 uppers not running right.

I've found a good deal on a 10.5" Colt barrel and put together an upper.  I haven't had one single jam on it but I've only put around 500 rounds through it.  The same can be said about my 11.5" suppressed upper that I put together with a Bushmaster barrel.

I am just about to do my first SBR and no doubt the upper is going to be a 10.5 Noveske with fire breathing pig.

That's what I want for my 1st one too.
