Hey guys, Im was wondering if there are any good places to shoot near tucson. Im looking for open land instead of going to ranges all the time.. I just moved to tucson two months ago, so i dont really know the area yet, but i have heard of someplace called Reddington Pass ? How accessible is that place? It kind of sucks that i sold my truck and got a car.. So i guess now i have to hike (hopefully not to far). Are there any other good places to shoot? im mainly just looking for some places to shoot on open land where i wont get in trouble with the law.. Thanks, Nick |

Thats good to hear.. I will have to go out there to see how the car does i guess.. How is the shooting there? Also where abouts is it? Like i said im new to the area :( On another note.. Is there any good hunting around Tucson? How far out of the city do you have to go to find some hunting? (rabbits and such, nothing big.) |

Like jr1285 said, Redington gets quite busy sometimes. There are 3 main shooting spots, and most are kinda trashed since people don't clean up after themselves, but I still like going there. I usually go during the early afternoon during the week to avoid the crowds. BTW since no one mentioned it, to get to Redington you basically take Tanque Verde east till it turns to dirt. The main shooting spots are around mile marker 6 or 7 IIRC. |

I know it is kind of far, but there is a nice range up outside of Casa Grande that is clean and safe. Although it is an unsupervised facility, the police practice right next door so you don't get the totally reckless crowd. Plenty of class three users go, you can bring your own junk to shoot if you pack it out as well. They have nice dug outs for plinking, I brink junk and steel targets all the time. I have had some bad experiences at Reddington, been flipped off by hikers and cyclists (of course cycling by or driving by very very fast) who think that they own the place. There are also alot of people out there on the weekends who I would not trust to be smart enough (you can tell by most of their bumper stickers) to not go downrange accidentally on a "nature hike". Going 45 minutes up Reddington or 50 minutes to Casa Grande from I-10 to I-8 to Trekkel Road makes Casa Grande the winner by far. The only thing that sucks is NO TANNERITE! Took Monday off to go shoot, you can follow if you want to know where to go! IM me if interested. |
| thx for the info about casa grande, just wondering if you could give more details? After getting off on Trekell rd, do you go south? do you go on Isom Rd? Im looking on google earth and i see something near the foot of the mountain/hill that looks like it could be a range, is that the area? |
