In late July we are moving to Maricopa. I own 6 handguns. My moving company said they WILL NOT move them. We are flying and my cars will be shipped. Any ideas on how to get them to Az?

Maricopa?!? You'll have to ship them from an FFL in NY to an FFL in Az. I could help you with an FFL in Az, but it would cost you a pizza or two from a specific pizza place in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn!

I thought I could just FedEx them overnight to my home in Maricopa. I was born in NYC, I live in Rochester now. The pizza up here sucks!!! Pizza Hut has better pizza than Rochester pizza!!

Pizza Slut gives me the shits!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shipping them that way is a Federal offense?!?

As long as he is shipping them to himself it is legal.

I would do the checked baggage thing though.

If you're bringing more than one gun, plan a few extra minutes at the security counter. Read, and then re-read the airlines rules and regs for flying with your weapons. Then read the TSA's rules. It's not that big of a hassle, if you follow all the rules to the letter.

The best part of the whole process, is standing on line, with guns in your hands, at the airport. Kind of stressful.

Do yourself a (and us) a favor. Don't ride around town with a big Yankees sticker on your vehicle. Every time we see one, we don't bow in reverence, we laugh our a$$ off. We've won one since the Yankees have. They might have 26 rings, but against us, they're 0 and 1.

Just kidding. Welcome to AZ. It's nice to have some people from the right coast to balance out the people from the left coast.

I think catmechanic is on the money...checked baggage or ship them to yourself.

Personally I would take the fedex overnight to yourself route, signature required of course.

Because one the insurance coverage is much better and two the fact that the TSA can and will search bags at "random" and may have annoying questions that could eat up some of your time.

God luck on your move and welcome to AZ.

Just do one thing, everytime you speak with any of the more liberal members in your family complain constantly about the terrible and untollerable heat.(shouldn't be to hard to do)

I just emailed a guy who has an FFL . He advised me to send them to him and I can pick them up at his shop. I think I'll ship them overnight to myself. Why should I pay 100+ for him to hand them over to me 2 days later. I think I'm legal shipping them to myself.  I heard people are carrying more because of the immigrant problem in Az. Whats the story with that???

[Jedi/Democrat mind trick] There is no immigrant problem. These are not the guns you need.

I think you're misimformed. The majority of the crime is done by regular old scumbags of all races but I'm sure most of them emmigrated from other states. In Mesa, I noticed an increase in scumbags that came here from New Orleans after Katrina.

fly with them in checked baggage. it costs NOTHING.

do a search. tsa has a now accurate page from what i saw.
check airline page too.

you are not an animal. they are your property. you are a free citizen. fly them with you.
if you want you can give the money you would waste on shipping and/or ffl to charity.

exercise the right

Checked baggage in a locked case. They ask you if they are unloaded and you fill out a form to put in the case and then lock it.  I fly with weapons all the time and they have me sit near the counter about 10 to 15 minutes until TSA clears my luggage but that isn't a problem with me as I get to the airport early. TSA has never had me give them the keys to check the weapons.  Just make sure you have firearms coverage through NRA or homeowners insurance.

Welcome to Maricopa.  You'll be happy to know that there is a Native New Yorker restaurant here.  Well, the pizza isn't that great but the wings are good!  There's a place called Rosatti's in the same shopping plaza that has good Chicago pizza, and a pizza hut, and a Domino's, and a Mama Mia's...I think we are nearing one pizza place per person in town.

And there is a chunk of BLM land about 15 minutes west of here for shooting/riding.  What development/builder are you going with here?  We have been renting here for almost a year and our house is finally supposed to be ready for move-in next week!

Oh, and back on topic, check the guns and fly with them.

Feel frem to IM me if you have questions about the area.

We bought a house in RED. Closing is 6/22 and we should be out there in late july. We decided to drive one car and have the other one shipped. ASU is paying our relocation costs and we will get to see some of the US to boot. See you soon

Well, if you are driving now, do what I did: bring them with you! I just made sure I brought them in the motel with me everytime I stopped for the night.

It's okay, he's got six handguns and actually tolerated living in NY...bettr yet, he survived without being interred by the Gestapo....

I gave him the go ahead.

Fair enough.
