alright guys.....ive spent the last two days looking at places in the Sierra Vista area.  found one yesterday and goin back to look at it today just a ways past Palominas just across the San Pedro.  12 acres, w/ a draw that runs through the back yard.  looked to be a pretty neat piece of property.  i'll post an update after i look at it more closely today.  wish me luck guys!!

Best of luck, bro.  Wish I could afford to get out of my rental house and get something to own with some property.  Sigh, maybe after they get my leg fixed.

i hear ya bro, best of luck to you too!  property and homes are freakin EXPENSIVE down here around Sierra Vista due to the fact that its growing so fast.

Mind if I ask what 12 acres is going for down there with a house already on it?
4/1/2005 7:28:04 AM EDT
[#4]
no, not at all.  they want $155,000 for it.

Including the house?  Hell, bro that ain't bad!  I pay 950/mo to rent a house, which would essentially be your mortgage.  3 or 4 bedroom?  I may really need to investigate getting one of my own, but I would LOVE to have some acres separating my neighbors and myself.  Cookie-cutter houses hold no interest for me.

yeah, i hear that.  cookie cutters are not my style either.

That's a great price. My mother bought a house on 4 acres in Palominas for $120,000. That's a beautiful area. I hope I am stationed down near there when I EOD into the BP.

Sounds like a great deal and good luck on getting it and the additional 37 acres...you will kick yourself in the ass if someone else buys the additional acreage and turns it into a junkyard or immigrant assembly area!

You buy the beer, I'll help ya move.

Going to have the proverbial housewarming party (read:  bunch of Arfocommers)?

You've got me all amped up to start looking for some land of my own - I'm tired of living in the city proper around the drunks and the drug addicts.  I was thinking a little more North, though, where I'd have some good fishing and hunting real close.

But seriously, I'm down with helping you move as much as I can with this leg.

Good find Styk.  I'll be back in a few weeks to start looking again for a house in SV.  I've got a letter of credit, so it's just finding the right place.

You bastard!  So, I guess this means we've really lost you to Arizona, huh?  Oh well, there are worse fates.

For the non-native Texans reading this (that'd be a bunch of you, in the AZ Hometown Forum ), when a native Texan moves out of state "for good," it is an event not unlike death (for some).

I am not saddened for my dear Brother SUHU, however, for I know his spirit is in Heaven.  I suppose if he'd been a real ass in life, he'd be settlin' down out in California or Massachusetts right now!

Note: This is really my way of saying "Congratulations" - Arizona is a great place one of the few states I would consider moving to.  There's not (IMO) a better place a fellow Texan could have emigrated to.
