W will probably take it, I took posession of my shiny new crazy-cool bushy m17, and i got a (pretty much) dream job offer.  Daschle might get the boot too!

maybe in the morning my wife's breasts will have increased a cup size and my son will have been scratching algebra on the inside of his crib.

Well, if Kerry had won, your wife would have left you for another woman, and your kid would be practicing his welfare signature.
All kidding aside, congrats on your new toy!

Hey, man, congratulations!

Let's see... I powerwashed the house and watched the elections.  No kids (they are in KS), no wife, and no M-4.

Damn, my life sucks.  Well, at least the dog didn't piss on the carpet.

Seriously, congrats, man!  Good day to say thank You to God.

GOD DAMN!  At what distance to you Zero that scope?  That is some major league hold over!

It looks to be at least 5".  And how do you get a cheekweld?  You'd have to have John Kerry's horse face to get a cheekweld with the scope that high off of the buttstock!

yeah, it's actually a chin weld, but it's more comfortable then scruntching your neck down.  small price to pay for a gun that's shorter than an m4 but accurate as all but the best heavy (and long) barrel AR's. it's for 100-300 yd 3gun.  still gotta figure out a way to stick a red dot or eotech up there with the scope for tactical ranges.

I'd try to get a dot closer to the centerline of the bore, especially for close in stuff.  If you could get it about as high as irons on an AR, you'd have less dramatic swings on your point of impact at ranges other than your Zero distance.

I've always been facinated with the M17.  Are they available in flat top config?

no, but I've seen some places that will convert them, google bushmaster m17 gunsmithing or something like that to find it

How do you reload prone?

You need to thread the muzzle and slap on a flash hider.

Congrats on the Bushy, sorry I was busy and couldn't go to the 3 gun match, but there's the shoot on the 20th.
Later and hope the good luck holds. Sjet.

hey Sjet!  you and anybody else on the 20th can shoot it, runs really good.

actually you can just pull the handle off, but getting that deep in the forend/mid part of the weapon is armorer level maintenance.  the problem is that it's really hard to get your neck around to just use the iron sights (immediately below the rail), i don't see how you could get your eyeline any lower.

and reloading prone is really easy once you get used to it.  just flip it sideways.  the only real weakness of this gun is that it has basically no irons.

I'd slap a gooseneck rail and an aimpoint (or similar) on that ugly (but cool) bi-otch.

I looked at one of these a couple years back, I didn't buy cause the buttstck was like a wierd hollow plastic grid.  Are they still like that?

actually that's the one thing i've considered, but it seems more trouble than it's worth and seems a bit delicate for the big slab of aluminum this thing is.

still plastic base unit and butt.  Glocks are made of plastic too.
