From what I understand, an Indian gang operating near Queen Creek Road and Maricopa Road are boxing cars in, shooting a indow out and forcing the driver off the road for robbery. One driver escaped in his SUV and fled to a gas station. He called 911 while his family hid. The gang continued to circle the area. Not much more details on this. Anyone have anything else on this? |

I live up at Alma/Germann, I travel that route a few times a month when I head out to one of my friend's houses in Maricopa. It would be an absolute shame if they tried that on us on our way back from a shooting trip. It's not like we'd go out there in a Buick Le Sabre with blue hair wigs and jewelry visible to tempt them into trying it on us. |
Aren't they making enough off the Casinos they have out there? What gives with these guys? They're constantly getting busted for shoplifting at the Target (Queen Creek and Alma) as well... |
| You wouldnt belive the call volume that the PD's have out there. Its not like the stuff most of the city agencies get, very few BS whiners. More suicides, homocides, rape, robbery. Bad stuff, I have heard alot of war stories from the guys up on the Salt River. I have even thought about applying with their PD just to get into the shit! Its like a warzone man.. |

If you get handed money, there's no incentive to work. If you don't work, then you don't value what you have. And if you're on a res and not working, there's not much else to do but hang out and that often leads to drinking. But not always. On the other hand, if you're on a res and into the outdoors, 4 wheeling, SHOOTING, hiking, or riding horses, there's plenty to do! If these guys are raising hell, then they'll get what's coming. |

| The Navajo Nation (northern AZ, parts of UT, NM) has the highest instances of gang-related activity anywhere in the US. Couple that with the Census statistic that over 1/2 of the Navajo Indians are under the age of 18, and you begin to wonder if ALL history (Southwest included) will repeat itself. I am armed with my glock 17 and no less than 4 spare hi-caps, along with my ruger blackhawk .357 anytime I camp on/drive across/hike anywhere near the rez up here. You guys should see the way the Navajo drive through Flag in their new 3/4 Chevy's 4x4's. Complete disregard for every other vehicle on the road (leaving brights on ALL the time, tailgating, running reds and stop signs, etc., usually with a couple of kids in the back). Or perhaps the millions of empty Thunderbird and Tokay bottles along the rez highways. When I grew up in Chandler (Ray and Rural, when that was a dirt road intersection), it was common to have Gila Indians breaking into ranch buildings and houses. |

As a young man, I spent my summers in Flagstaff (Kachina Village), we'd go into town and see Indians laying in the gutter in front of "66" bar and those other joints near Beaver Street passed out from drinking all day. I had run ins with drunk Indians on a couple occasions there. Still, I love Flagstaff. I'm not as fond of it these days because it's been overrun by Californians and dirty hippies. ... In the 70's, did you ever think you'd see a traffic jam in Flag? Now it's an everyday experience. |

I've seem plenty of drunk whites and other races lying around in my time. Just check out the freeway underpasses. Some even hold signs that say they're veterans or "will work for food." Do you think the Cavalry would've been as effective if it wasn't for the skanky diseases Europeans and other immigrants brought with them? Just a thought. You're right Winston_Wolf about the hippies and liberals in Flag. Ticks me off. They were some of the first to demonstrate against US retaliation after Sept. 11. |

Possibly The Army and Marines would have still been as effective. Didn't Cortez sack the Aztec Empire with a platoon sized element? I believe he just manipulated the tribes against each other, and then under Spanish rule. Even if Europe couldn't hold the coastal colonies from day one, Jet fighters would be bombing the horseless Indians before they were forging steel blades. |
More likely it would have happenned sooner than that...repeating rifles and gatling style weapons would have slaughtered the Indians wholesale, and I have a feeling they would not have been able to acquire those weapons. |

There is no shortage of dreadlocked "trustfund-afarians" running around here barefoot driving brand new Pathfinders and creating a leftist extremist movement against Bush (not that I am a fan of any American president with the exception of Grover Cleveland since 1865). Perhaps some people may tag me in the same bunch, due to my anti statist paleo-conservative nature... Perhaps because I wear flip-flops and ride my beach cruiser Scwinn around much faster than traffic on old US66, that I am a leftist biker-nazi. But they don't see that airweight .357 tucked away, with a couple of speed loaders to boot. Gotta keep them guessing, always, right?  Back to the point (whew), there are plenty of pieces of shit drunk/high/crazy in all different colors around here, but the most unpredictable are definitely the natives.
