What are the rules regarding the signs at county fairgrounds?  From what I've read they are not valid and shouldn't be posted on the entrance.  What is the deal, has anyone taken this issue to the courts?

its just like the normal No carry in county buildings.

Well it looks like from the BFA website, the county commisioners can post the buildings but not the whole fairgrounds, has this changed?

That is correct. If you see signs at the gates saying the grounds are prohibited, I would recommend contacting the fair board and telling them the signs are unlawful.

Where did you find info on the BFA website? Can you provide a link?

If you're attending the Ohio State fair, you'll have to go through metal detectors.

And as long as you stay out of the restricted areas, you are perfectly legal

BFA

Here is the info I was referring to.  I know it's old but if nothing has changed it should be good to go.

I attended the Champaign county fair last night which has apparently illegal signs at the entrances.

I will add that I also went to the state fair last week and notice the signs there refered  to "illegal" weapons.  That must be why they use that specific wording.

Hartford Fair might be a good bet. I don't think the fairgrounds there are municipal buildings.

I haven't been to the Hartford Fair in forever but I always remember it as being pretty decent and a far step above the usual trashy carny thugfests.

There was a fellow picked up at the Holmes County fair, for illegal concealed carry.  The dip did not have a CHL.  Not to have your license and carry in our county is the height of stupidity as our sheriff is very much pro CHL. It takes like 3 days to get your card after you apply.

Of course the guy may be a felon and could not get one, we'll know before long.

It's too bad it is even required. Hopefully that changes sometime soon.
