Hi there I will be moving to Ohio sometime in the next couple of weeks, anything I need to know about bringing my Group Industries Uzi carbine into the state or my 1911? I will be moving in the Archibald/Stryker area.

30 or less round mags only.  Other than that, you're good.

Yeah I was just reading the sticky on that one.  Well time to start modifying magazines. Oh wait I should SBR it.  How is the CLEO sign off in Ohio or should I just plan on a trust?

No need to modify anything. You can own any magazine you want, you can load it to full capacity.

It's only when you put it in the gun with more than 30 rounds you're in trouble, and if you SBR the UZI then it's a non-issue. And, all of that assumes that there's an LE in the state that gives a crap or knows the law. Cause they'll be few and far between.

Yes, SBRs are exempt from the magazine rule because of qualifying as a registered machine gun by Ohio law. Only bad thing is there is a 6+ month turn around on SBR and Suppressor application currently, so you might want to continue making those mag blocks.

You can get an Ohio "dangerous ordnance" license instead of going the SBR route, or modifying your magazines.

Is there a process on how to go about getting one of those licenses? I always wondered but never really looked into it.

Dont bother with the ordnance permit. Its cost is around 150 for the licence and like 30 dollars for a temp. permit. Spend 200 toward ATF taxes and use your mags in that  F1 or F4 sbr, sbs, machine gun or aow. OH and Welcome to Ohio. I dont know about the sign off but, depends on where you move to exactly. If moving to the city of Archbold or Stryker just visit the PD and see, if moving to the country in those areas visit the Williams county sherrifs Dept. in Bryan for around the Stryker area. Visit the Fulton county Sherrifs Dept for around Archbold. I think your chances for sign off is good at the SDs in either county. Good luck asking. If you are a Shooter, there are some good ranges and shoots in 2 hr. raidus of North west Ohio. Camp Perry, Black Swamp Carbine, UCOA multi gun are some of the shoots in the area. Full auto is ok at some of these shoots. Adco firearms isnt to far either.

I appreciate all of the responses you guys are about as friendly as the Washington arfcommers. As much as I like to shoot it will probably be a while until I will be able to.  I look forward to meeting you fine people when I get there.

Well we have made it and I am finally more or less setteled in.  We are in the Stryker area about a mile or so outside of town.  I still need to find a transfer dealer to have my UZI shipped to.  Decided to just ship it. Instead of bringing in the car.

You are allowed to ship your personal firearms directly to yourself. No need to go through an FFL.

Even if it is in a pawn shop and they will be shipping it when I send them the money back to redeem it. Would they need to send to dealer or myself.

I believe they would need to send it to an FFL in that case.
I'm not positive but I think when you pawn a gun you have to fill out a 4473 once you repay the loan.

You're not "transferring" anything so no FFL is needed.  You can ship your firearms to yourself anywhere in the USA.

30+ round magazines?  NO ONE CARES!  Unless you're an Alfa Hotel and have been in police trouble endlessly.
