Hey Ohioans,
I am going to be in Akron for the week and I was hoping some of the locals could point me in the right direction for some good restaurants and maybe some cool black rifle shops possibly ones with a good selection of parts.

Thanks

Google Kames sporting goods, large store with a good selection of EBR's and ammo.

Try Pro Armamnet in Cuyahoga Falls, nice shop and friing range, and a decent selection of goodies.

Pro armament is ok, decent selection but generally high prices. Kames is near the Ak/Can airport and has a great selection of firearms, but not a great selection of firearm accessories. They have good prices and a good selection of all sorts of sporting needs.

For eats check out Swenson's drive in, a 50's style carhop burger joint. If your looking for a nicer meal, Mo's which is almost right next to Pro Armament offers fine dining great drinks and apps in the bar too. Luigi's pizza downtown is an Akron landmark.

Another vote for Luigis. Good eats.

Luigi's is Akron's best pizza. You may have had better, but it's pretty good. Luigi's other dishes are pretty good. Swenson's is good.

I'd add Hibachi Japan. It's in Cuyahoga Falls. Not far, a couple of miles to the north, up Rt. 8.

ETA.

Since you're from N.Y. you might consider a trip to Cleveland. Maybe a 30 to 40 minute drive. Tons of great spots to eat. I'm a big fan of Melt. http://meltbarandgrilled.com/more-about-melt/locations/

East side location is about 35 miles from Akron. It's been on a ton of Food Network type shows (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives; Man v. Food).

Also look at Parasson's for another Italian place, Primo's Deli for great sandwiches and beer, the Barley House for Irish pub, the Lockview for large beer selection.

Grinders has some great food, down here in Stark Co.

On Tap in Cuyahoga Falls has killer wings. The original and hot sauces are amazing.  Since you're in the area I would try Riverside, but they are really pricey.  The Fur is decent, but I try to go to Vance (but that's in CBus).

If you were in NW Ohio you could have gone to ADCO

Luigis for food
Barley House for food and drinks (both downtown Akron)

Kames Sports
Crystal Park Guns (opened Saturday on 30th st NW)
Bricco for a nice dinner
A&W Drive in.  Way better than Swensons
Wasabi in Jackson Twp for great Habachi
Save a Fish Burger Bar in Jackson Twp also.
Barley House is cool
69 Taps is cool.
Summit Racing is pretty awesome too.

Don't let anyone talk you into checking out the Interbelt, trust me.

Here is my two cents:
For Black Rifles and things you may want to look at
Elite Tactical Supply 220 High St Wadsworth
As for food, If Mexican is your thing try
Casa Del Rio 839 High St Wadsworth

PITA45

PS I would vote for Fin Feather and Fur as well.

Casa Mimi for italian on Manchester Rd.

Hyde Park for steaks in Copley

Louie's for burgers on Glenwood ave.

Swensons or Skyway for Drive in (Depending on which side of akron your on its a huge local debate)

White House for Barberton Chicken (Go to the original)

Diamond Grill for Steaks, Downtown.

Lockview on Main for Beer Selection.

For Black Rifles, Fin Feather Fur is worth the drive.  Kames in North Canton is also nice.

Hope your visit to our city is pleasant.  Keep us informed.

All great ideas, Brother, plus––Fin, Fur and Feather just opened a store in the Cleveland area. Using the interstates, it just might be easier to get to their Cleveland store. Call 'em to see what they have in stock first: 440-243-9400

Fin Feather Fur

...of course their "original" store down I-71 in Ashland kicks butt with the black rifles and ammo.

P.S.

How'd you like that 7 inches of rain in Akron last night? Yikes! I am up here with family and we were all "swimming" last night.

ENJOY!

Just saw this....

Definitely check out Kames...  The email special for the week is xm 193 for $4.99

For dining I would skip Ken Stewarts and Diamond Grille and head to Edgar's.  Bricco is a pretty good spot to eat as well they have a couple of locations one downtown, one in fairlawn and in the Valley.

Primo's is the place to go for sandwiches.

ETA: I guess I am a little late....also didn't know there were that many Akronish people here
