Vances has a used Eagle Arms 308 AR for 650.  Was waiting for my number to come up but got tired of waiting.  Seems like a good deal if anyone is looking.
They also had a SCAR H there but did not see the price - it was very different than I expected it to be diff sights and slightly different lower.

Eagle is gone and no SCAR heavy. you saw two SCAR 16's

You're right it wasn't a SCAR H - it was a .22 clone by the same company that makes a Glock .22 pistol.  The EA was there earlier this week but again there was too big of a line to ask about it.  Think who ever got it scored a decent deal and saved me from buying it.

Went in there Saturday. MISTAKE. Waited 46 minutes (pulled #74, on # 32) before being told they had sold out of lowers, did not have the Marlin 1895 SBL I was after, and were $100 over Bud's GUn Shop on a Savage MK II TRR-SR.

Also, have to go through the ghetto to get there. Jebus. Had a hood-rat storm out after he was told he'd have to pass a background check.

I like Vances and all, but this is why I like small gunshops like the one in West Jeff a hell of a lot more.

I've dealt with Vance's many many times, even though I'm over a hundred miles from them. They are good people, and I'd imagine that if you told them that Bud's was $100 cheaper, they would match the price, and that would save you the transfer fee.

Vance's had a great deal on 00 Buck Federal 12 gauge shells today.  25 shells for $11.99!

I did pick up a  box of those and a case of Federal Top Guns for $50. Didn't need the target shells, but eh, $50/case reminds me of the olden days. As to the price quote on the gun, they orig. quoted me $600 for a gun they had in their flyer for $329. Then I pointed it out on the shelf. $499, the .17HMR version right next to it, $329. This model was NOS without the forward rail and still $30 more than bud's. So for the transfer fee, I don't have to go back into the ghetto get a NEW model rifle, and can have my lowers shipped to the same spot.

Maybe I should try on a weekday. I felt bad for the employees, but they have so much going on, it's hard to get them actually involved in anything.

Weekdays are better, thats when I go most of the time, I pick a number and most of the time I am not more than 10 back and even some of those guys are not around when there number is called so it goes by pretty quick, as for the scenery and the other odd types they have to deal with that is there all the time unfortunately.

it's definitely still my #2 place to buy firearms, the first choice is clyde armory and have it transferred to a local FFL.

the summer time at Vances is nasty, lots of bad body odor floating around the store

The stories above is why I always go to Buckeye Outdoors, same selection and owner, without all the bs. It's just a little further out if you live in Columbus.

This one time, at Vances store......

A buddy and I parked on the North side of the shop only to find a fairly recently shot automobile.  In the back seat of the car we viewed an urban youth jamming 7.62 into an AK magazine.  Ah, happy days.....

We still wind up there from time to time mostly because of selection and they are the closest Glock LE dealer.

I love Vances! Great prices and a huge selection. As others have mentioned the waiting in line and gang-bangers get annoying, but worth the wait for the prices. You don't even want to know how much I save on LE Glocks!!!!! WOW!!!!! The staff is somewhat knowledgeable compared to other stores I have shopped at. I have seen the staff tell hood rats to hit the door on many occasions. The last time I was there I saw them tell a hood rat and his baby momma to get out because the baby momma was the straw buyer for the baby daddy. They do a good job of sifting through the felons and and straw buyers down there. I have noticed the staff is pretty cool with gun buyers who have decent knowledge about guns, but they seem to get annoyed with folks who have less knowledge about firearms. I assume they get aggravated due to the long lines and hood rats wanting to finger every Gold and Polished 9 in the bldg.

Overall, I think it is the best large gun store in Ohio.

I guess every gun store has its fans and customers. I'd rather pay a few bucks more somewhere else.

Most places will have good days and bad especially at Vances. There's been a few times that I've thought I won't be back ever but it's usually then that something shiny catches my eye and all is well.
