Yea, I know. All the airsoft stuff is fake, but this is different.

He was selling Aimpoint magnifiers that were labeled "Aimpoint" on the side. I suspected that they were fake last Niles show, but didn't say anything. Noticed the box looked strange, like it was a photo copy on glossy cardboard.

Last weekend at the Niles show I asked him if it was legal to sell magnifiers with the Aimpoint name on them that were fake. I didn't know for sure, but they really did look off. He said that they were real and that Aimpoint had stopped all the fakes from coming in. I was incredulous and said, "So these are $300?" He didn't really think about it before saying, "Yes!".

I came back home and checked out the Aimpoint fakes thread in the optics section of the AR-15 forum. Armed myself with knowledge and went back on Sunday. Sure enough, the font was italic and the covers were not marked Aimpoint. Also, the threads for the ring that held the glass were obviously coarser than in the picture. The guy wasn't there so I asked the wife how much they cost and she told me $150.

Literally less than 1 min. later I walked by and they had pulled them off the shelf. I noticed they were sitting behind the tables out of sight.

I don't know if this guy knew what he had was fake, but I will be interested to see if he does it again. Kind of pisses me off that he was selling $20 fakes for $150 as real.

I don't give a shit if he sells them for $150 as fake.

I forgot to get the name. They set up at the Niles, Ohio gun show on the left hand side at the front of the first row.
