Now that I have a lot of free time on my hands I am looking to get a new gameing console. I had an old PS but things have changed since I had it. I'm looking for pros and cons of each or what you like about what you have. What are your favorite games too? Thanks |

I dont get to play much anymore but in my opion PS3 all the way.
Comparisons: PS3: Internet ready if you have WiFi...free internet XBOX 360: You have to buy an additional attachment to become internet ready, around $100...then you have to pay for the service through XBOX PS3: Blue Ray player which I have to tell you is awesome, also upconverting DVD'S XBOX360: HDDVD Which are now obsolete, standard dvd player PS3: Play station store, rent buy and download movies, games and demos in a matter of minutes XBOX360: You have to buy XBOX live cards to accomplish the same thing as on PS3, which is free PS3: It is a multimedia center to create slide shows of your photos along with music you can download or transfer. I've seen and played both and the PS3 is by far the winner in my book. |

I've seen and played both and the PS3 is by far the winner in my book. I have been a PS2 guy ever since it came out. Devil May Cry, Onimusha, GTA 3, all of those games were great, PS2 had the BEST lineup. PS2's lineup absolutely killed the original xbox's lineup. With that being said, I loved the ps2 and the games. Nowadays though, the 360 is KILLING the ps3 when it comes to games. There aren't that many games that PS3 has that the 360 has. Resistance is ok, but I would not buy a PS3 for that. Metal Gear is awesome but I wouldn't buy a PS3 for that. I would also think about how many people have a 360 compared to a ps3. As with the marketplace and the playstation store....are you saying everything on there is free for the PS3? I don't think things are free. You have to pay just like the 360. The maps, the movies, the themes, you will have to pay for it regardless of which system you buy. I do agree with you on the blue ray. I have seen what bluray can do and it is awesome. If you have an HD tv, you will notice a huge difference. I am still a fan of the normal DVD's though so it is not a huge deal for me. On the 360, you can store all the music you want and listen to it while you game. Probably the biggest drawback to a 360 is the red ring (which I had on my system and got it repaired and sent back in a week) and the small Hard Drive that comes with it (20 gig). I love the 360, and microsoft is doing everything right with it. |
| Depends what you are looking for. In my world the 360 was the winner. I like gaming online with other people. While the ps3 does this it isn't set up as well as xbox live. If you are looking for a blueray player go buy one. If you are looking at playing games locally without much multiplayer the ps3 is good but so is the xbox. I agree that xbox has the better exclusive games. It really depends on your taste in games and if you want multiplayer with them. Also as far as internet ready goes, both systems are internet ready. Xbox is set up for a wired system and ps3 is set up for wireless. You have to buy adapters for both if you want to go the other dirrection. Personally I prefer wired as it is generally faster and more consistant. |

I have a 360. I love it, but there's a few questions you need to ask yourself:
1) Do you enjoy calling India? 2) Do you enjoy shipping video game systems off to Texas to be fixed? The first time my system died, the laser wouldn't read any discs. I had the basic 30 day warranty from Best Buy. My system died on day 32. During that 32 days, I had gone on vacation to Missouri for about a week, so I didn't even get a month of use out of the thing. The second time was this January when I got the fated red ring of death. The customer service people I dealt with in India made me think about giving my system a taste of 8mm Mauser and just being done with it. That being said, I like the system. I like the menu and the internet interface is good (IMO). What it comes down to is games, and 360's got them. I'll probably be a little leary of spending money on Microsoft's next system though. |

I have both, but if I were going to buy one now it would be the PS3. The 360 is antiquated and any future games are now limited by the dvd's capacity. Most games that are coming out are going to be over 10 gig and they won't fit on the 360s dvd. Just have multiple discs. Just like FF VII had. Lost Odyssey had, I think 3 or 4 discs and it was executed perfectly. As with the red ring, maybe microsoft is catching up to fixing the consoles because it only took a week for me to ship it and have it shipped back to me. |

Its a pain for customers.. 1) like I wanna get up and switch discs 2) that only solves a continuity issue. Games will require more than that space to operate. Its also less desirable for developers- greater production cost and time. The Xbox 720 is due for release 2011-12. So you have maybe 2 to 2 1/2 years left on the 360. And it will have a blu ray player.. which is making Sony smile. |

Microsoft has a one year factory waranty on the 360, and a 3 year warranty on the red ring. So far I have had two 360s (I liked the black elite when it came out so I upgraded consoles instead of just hard drives) and have never had red ring on either. But 5 other people in my family have 360s and two of them have gotten red ring so it really is a shot in the dark on who gets it and who doesn't.
Also while I agree the blue ray has more potential, sony hasn't come close to maximizing it yet. In a few years when the new systems are coming on line maybe it will be better, but then there might be a new media developed. Also you have the option of saving games to the xbox360 hard drive so an very simple solution if the games get to big for single cd is for microsoft to go to an instalation type setup for certain games. I'd factor two things into purchasing a system. 1) what games do you like and what is available to what system, 2) What system do your freinds and family have (who are most likely to multiplayer with)? |
| 360 if you are all about the multiplayer games.... Get Cod4, left4dead, and fallout3 and that should give you a good start... If anyone wants to add my gamertag, I am AdvilColdNflu. Ps3 is a great system don't get me wrong...but I have heard less than stellar things about their online network... Not to mention even if their network was good, all of my real life friends have 360.. I can't even think of a single one that has ps3 that plays it online. |

I play call of duty online on my PS3 whenever time and my little guy allow. It really is like digital crack, well said!
Let's get away from the PS3 VS. XBOX 360 debate for a second...have any of you played battlefield bad company? It's right up there wih call of duty in my opinion. One of the best online war games I've played to date. |
