Just a heads up about this company.  Twice now they have screwed up transactions with me, and I will not ever be going back despite the convenience of their location for me.

The first time I went through them I was trying to transfer in a used Glock.  They asked for some information up front so they could get their license sent to the other FFL dealer in advance to "speed the transfer" which I thought was great.  I got them this about a week before the Glock deal finalized.  The seller got the gun to his FFL, and several days passed.  I started making calls all over, and finally had to call the sellers FFL, only to find out that Target World was dragging their feet sending him the copy of their license that should have happened over a week ago.  In the end they delayed the receipt of my gun for nearly a week and when I showed up to pick it up after it arrived they couldn't even find it for 2 hours while I had to stand around in their store...

OK, fast forward several months.  I want to buy a gun from AIM Surplus (a great company by the way), but their pick-up counter is closed and its not a C&R item so I needed to have it transferred to an 01 dealer.  I decided to give Target World one more chance.  I called in and they OKed the transfer.  I even went in the next day and spoke with another employee to fill out the paperwork as to my contact info and what gun to expect, and HE said the transfer was OK.  A week or two later when AIM tries to ship the gun, Target World tells AIM that no one ever said that transfer was OK and they wouldn't do it.  When I called the store they told me that they had never OKed it, and the assistant manager says it will not happen.  I found another gun store in the area (Afield located at 275 and 74) that was happy to transfer it for me, and had a really great experience with them.  I will be going back there again.

I see no reason to give money to a company that so clearly doesn't want it.  I will go out of my way to do business with someone that wants my business...

Also as a side note, I feel that their range is not run in a safe manner at all.  The people at the front desk have a video feed to it I believe, but they pay little attention.  I cannot count the number of times I was swept by the barrel of a muzzle or some other such blatant safety violation, but no one is supervising and it just keeps happening.  I stopped going there to use their range before I even did business with them for the first time.  It's pretty expensive on top of all that.

Hope this helps someone steer clear of trouble with Target World in the future.

Try going down to Shooters in Kentucky for the range. Its well lit, clean, and employees are friendly. I got tired of the attitudes from TW employees and the unsafe range. I'll never go back to TW after going to Shooters.

I had a pistol that I bought from Target World a few years ago and it had problems so I sent it back to Smith & Wesson and they tried to repair it.
I got it back and it still had the same problem so I called Smith & Wesson and they agreed to send me a new one, since it was new with a different serial number it had to be shipped to a dealer so they shipped it to Target World since they had originally sold me the first one. After a week or so and not hearing anything I called Smith & Wesson and was told that it had been shipped and it should be at Target World. I then drove over to Target World and asked the guy that worked there since it was owned by the previous owner. He checked some paper work and said that it was there but that I could NOT pick it up until they got it logged into their books and told me to come back on Saturday. When I went back on Saturday they could
not find the pistol, after about 45 minutes of checking paperwork and receipts they discovered that they had SOLD it to someone else. After I started getting a little pissed they decided to give one of theirs at the same value in exchange.

One other time I made the mistake of renewing my NRA membership at Target world. To make a long story short it never got sent in. I had to call and talk to a manager who finally agreed to mail a check to NRA.

I think that besides from being over priced and under managed that they have too many employee's that don't have a clue or don't care.

Just my 2 - cents worth. And I do NOT buy or shoot there anymore

I think their first requirement for being an employee there is that you cannot know a thing about firearms.  I have never in all my days been to a retail establishment where the employees were nothing but a bunch of retards.  If the anti's want a place to highlight to use for their gun control plans this would be it.

Heh, careful there karnaaj.  Some anti might just read that and get an idea...  Lord knows they don't need the help .

I got a better safety story for you at TW.    I was there a few weeks ago and as usual the parking lot was pretty crowded so I was down past the end of the building.   All of a sudder I hear a noise then somthing "whizzing" over my head into the scrap yard next door.    Best I can tell a round exited the rear of the building and was tumbling which was the whizzing noise.    I told them inside; they shut down the range while two employees went outside and looked at the back of the building.   There was a hole in the building with the metal edges pointed outward.

So the moral of this story is don't park at the back end of the parking lot....

Target World is a FUCKING JOKE!!!

Not to mention you all were commenting on the character of their employees....its well known a certain poster named "REDBEAR" here on ar15.com an theakforum.net WAS A TARGET WORLD EMPLOYEE who *CLAIMED* to be an EX-RUSSIAN fighter against the afghans in the 1980s. He was selling stuff he claimed he "brought back with him from the afghan war" to sell on various gunwebsites. They called him "RUSSIAN JOE" at target world.

Needless to say he was exposed as a PHONEY when someone pulled his birth certification which would have made him about 8 during the 1980's afghan/russian WAR. He was also an American citizen, born here and had NO military experience here OR there.

Hell i don't even know if he even works there anymore, he put his tail between his legs and ran off every gun board on the planet after he was exposed...

This is what a member of a non gun related site I frequent posted about TW:

So I got to TW yesterday about 4:30 with a friend. There was a kid working where you pay to shoot. Those that have been there know that is the counter where all the shitty rentals are. Anyhow, the kid is pale and shaking like a leaf. 3 pistols are on the counter 1st being an unknown model glock, 2nd a Glock 31 (.357 sig) and some old ass SW revolver. The revolver's wood grip was shattered and laying in a pile next to it on the glass.

2 other employees looking at him shaking their head walk away. I asked this asshole, WTF happened? He said he took out the 1st glock and layed it on the counter, went to reach for the 2nd (glock 31) and it just discharged. He claims whoever put the pistol back didnt clear it and there was a round in the chamber. I told him a Glock will not discharge unless the trigger is pulled. Anyone that has shot .357 sig knows its loud as hell and scared the shit out of everyone there.

Anyhow, the pistol was facing to his right (toward the front door) and shot the handle of the revolver. Thank god the weather sucked and there were only 10 people in the building. Had someone been standing on the left side of the counter, they would have been shot.

I assume since he was still shaking when we walked in the shot went off when we were getting out of the car. Im glad it didnt happen as we were walking in the front door. Fucking dumbass careless punk kid.

I went in there one time about two months ago even though I said that I would never go back, and some idiot in a security guard uniform was asking a clerk how to disassemble his pistol, after they clerk showed him how it was done the security idiot loaded his magazine and installed it into the pistol which was pointed in my direction and was chambering a round when the clerk got smart and asked him not do do that unless he was on the range or outside the building. (At least one clerk had some common sense).

Doe's anyone know if Shooter's Supply in loveland is still planning on building a range  Target world is a monopoly that we do NOT need!

When are people ever going to learn about this place?  They talked me out of buying an AR a few years ago when I had the cash on me to buy it.  I ended up getting it at Olde English.  A mild improvement, customer servicewise, but they at least didn't bother to insult a paying customer.

Man, all these negative threads on TW.  Sad thing is, I took the wife out looking for a good CCW 9mm.  She liked an STI she saw there best.  I don't think there is another dealer for them in the area. Now I'm stuck with either shopping at a place that has a horrible reputation, or buying her something she didn't like as much.

Also while we are in the slam Target World mode. Back in 2004 they had a waiting list for concealed carry training, four of my friends and myself signed up for the training and were told that we would be called when there was an opening. we waited a couple of weeks and then asked them what the situation was, and we were told that they were running about six weeks behind because of all of the people taking the training and that we would be notified when it was our turn. Well that's been almost five years and none of us ever heard from them. Good thing for us was that we took our training elsewhere. But Target World didn't know that and has NEVER called us about the training.

Since they have expanded they seem have lost all sense of customer communication and do not have a clue as to what's going on.
To their credit they do have a very good inventory but it is WAY overpriced. But for some reason they stay busy, I guess it's because they are the only range in town. But they were a lot better when they were a husband, wife and a couple of employee company.
I have spent a ton of money there over the years, but NEVER again.

Call up some of the other places in town and see what you can find.  There is Gary's Guns not too far from Target World in Hamilton, Afield out to the west, the others mentioned in this thread, and probably a few I don't know about.  Call them all and see if someone else can get you that gun.

Arms and Accessories in Cheviot, and Peterson's somewhere in the area.  Don't know anything about them other than that they exist, but they exist.

Go over to One shot in Newtown and see if they can order it for you. You might wait a bit longer, but you will have what you want, and you will be giving the business to people who deserve it.

I would love to post all of my Target World horror stories, but right now I don't have time. I am ashamed to say I have spent way too much money there in the past. NEVER again.

Yeah I went in the Norwood store ONE time, because it is really near my house as well.

The guy was a total jerk, and his shop was a complete mess. His sign outside the shot said gun smithing so I mentioned some work I needed done and he kind of blew me off. Guess he didn't want the business.

I didn't even bother to look at prices. How some of these places stay in business is beyond me.

Between Friday and Saturday, I visited seven gun shops around town. One Shot was the best to deal with and where I will be going back to buy something this weekend.  I had my seven year old son with me(he's the one getting something) and they didn't just ignore him and talk to me. They took the time to teach him a bit about the gun he was looking at.
The fact that they had good service and the best price(by quite a bit) on the gun I was looking at as well means I won't mind driving across town to deal with them.
I didn't have a 'bad' experience at any store, but the big three I stopped at(bass pro, gander mtn., and target world) were all so crowded or understaffed for the people in there that it wasn't worth it to do anything more than look at them in the display and see the prices.

I went into Target World a few months ago during the Winter.  One of the employees was outside the back door taking a smoke break.  He knocked on the door to be let back in and the clerk got real Ninja, pulled his sidearm and let the guy back in while doing his best acting job.  Since then, the weather has warmed up and the next time I stopped in the same door was left open.  So much for the pistol packing Ninja.

Target World does have a lot of inventory if you want to look at something.  I'm still not a fan.  I've never used their range and don't much like the feel of the place.

There is a reallly bbigg fat guy that works there , like so fat he can't  wipe his own ass . I was ther a bout 2 months ago and there was a guy at the counter getting a transfer from gunbroker , the fat guy was so rude that I wanted to punch him . After the transfer was done the dude at the counter (obviously not an arfcommer ) said to me i must have accidentally pissed him off or maybe he is just having a bad day , then i said loud enough for the fat bastard to hear me or maybe he's just an asshole . Seriously he was treating this guy like a redheaded stepchild . I could tell the guy was new to the gun world and it pissed me off to think that this was his first experience . I then told the guy about shooters supply in loveland (even though i have never been there) . I also told him about arfcom

Target world employees must not have been given enough attention as children.  They truly are some of the most arrogant, rude assholes I've had the displeasure of meeting and doing business with.  Now that I know about Shooters I'll be heading there for my next range session.

Have you guys much knowledge of the gun range in Batavia?  I cant remember the name of it but it is public, although they only accept memberships once or twice a month.  Something like $ 100 a year.  They have a 600 yard range on down, member shoots of ar's ak's and the like.  Member dinners.  It's a bit of a haulfor me from the west side of town, but I've seriously been considering checking them out more thoroughly.

I know the owner, and shoot at the same range with him occasionally.  I'm sorry to hear these reports of your business experiences with him.  He's seems like a reasonable fellow when shooting.  The only business dealing I've had with him is when I bought 7 .22lr rifles for a youth rifle program.

I'm guessing a lot of your experience with him might come from his location.  He gets an awful lot of ghetto trash and white  trash come into his store and perhaps the irritation of constantly dealing with that has soured him on the business.   Still, it's bad business to prejudge your customers and chase legitimate folks away.

Unfortunate all around.
