| OK, so I went to the Lorain County Sheriff's Department to renew my CCW and was told that I couldn't renew at their location because I originally had it done in Geauga County. I live in Cuyahoga County and was under the impression that an adjacent county was based on where you currently live??? Apparently, it's based on where you originally got your license? What happens if I lived in Cinncy and moved up to Cleveland, am I expected to renew in Cinncy?? |
| Yeah, I got it resolved by simply asking the folks at the Geauga area if this was the case. They stated it was based on the county of residence and they called the Lorain department to explain it to them. So, after the Lt. called me back, I went back to the sheriff's department and waited 2 hours just to get fingerprinted and told to come back in 7 to 10 days to take my picture and to get my permit. |

The procedure to renew or get a new license is exactly the same other than the Renewal block isn't checked! See page 3. -- Chuck |
I really felt like this when I went to the SO and asked what to do to renew and they said haneded me the paperwork for the a new license and said it was the same procedure and requred the smae paperwork. I don't see why the have a sign up saying something like renewals are 30 days before to 90 days after experiation (or something like that). I mean if you are starting from the begining again, what difference does it make how long it has been expired?Just my three cents. Dan |
The Geauga county sheriff still had my old training certificate on file so they didn't ask me for a new one when I renewed. FWIW, the deputy sheriff shredded all unneeded paperwork (old application) in front of me after he processed my new application. |
