The first shoot went well and I wish to thank all who helped us thus far.
All the shooters enjoyed the drills improved their skills and generally had a good time.

We went over club rules, medical emergency procedure, and a safety lecture.  Time was spent making sure everyone had safe gun handling skills, and proper equipment.
Once we all shot to make sure we had a good zero, we moved into various drills.   The informal suppressor shoot was icing on the cake.

All shooters aided in clean up and tear down before we gathered to discuss future plans.  Everything is on track for Sept the 17th.

NOTE:  All shooters please notify me of your attendance.  This in NOT manditory, but it sure helps planning.

Also, the shoot will start @ 2pm.  New shooters are asked to arrive by 1pm, all returning shooters 1:30pm is fine.  Myself, GG26, and probably NVAR15 will be there by Noon if anyone wants to help set up.

More on this to follow later. Questions / Comments Please contact me.

I will put it on my shooting calendar.  I will let you know as the date gets closer whether or not I'll make it.

Any idea what the course of fire will be?  Only rifle or will you have some transition to pistol?

Is steel core ammo ok or 55 grain only?
9/1/2006 8:05:14 PM EDT
[#10]
Steel core is fine for this month and it will be rifle only.  I do not care if you bring or wear a pistol, but I am not planning any transitions.

200-300 rounds of rifle ammo will get it.  The who, what, how and why will be explained to new shooters at the 1pm greeting.

PM me if you need more.

Thanks Mulit-G.

I can bring an Poly Tech Legend AK for you to use if you want? Or an AR-15 Carbine with a cheap tasco red dot sight? Or a Colt HBAR Rifle? They've been gathering dust too long anyway and you're welcome to use any of them. Just supply the ammo.

WOW!  I get options!?  I'm putting together an AR build (VERY slowly), so I'd probably lean more towards one of those.  You care what ammo I bring?  I'm looking at heading to AIM for some 7.62 anyways... www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/223.html

I just told my wife where she can find me on the 17th (Multi-G, put me on the list, please).

I will also have an AR or two you can borrow as long as you put brass cased ammo through it.
Name Added.

Which do you want then? The AR carbine is a flattop with tasco red dot and the HBAR is A2. The AK is standard wood stock. If you have your own optic you want to use, feel free to try it.
Pick one and I'll get it ready. Or you can use one of Multi-G's toys.

I dunno, how far out are we going?  Let's try the HBAR, if you don't mind.  If I can't hit it with the irons I might as well just give up shooting.

If you look at the other topic Aug Shoot  for other items you'll need like shooting glasses, ear plugs, etc. I'll bring the HBAR, sling and enough mags for you to use. I also have plenty of ear plugs if you don't have any.
If we're doing real CQB training, maybe I'll bring the bayonets too??? See ya all there.

I've got some electronic muffs.  That Mosin barks.  I usually bring some extra ear plugs too though.

I'm trying to talk my dad into coming up too.

It was sending too much gas back (due to a pre-ban oversized gas port in the barrel) - A Wolff Extra power recoil spring and a rate reducer have seemed to have fixed it.

Anyway, it needs wrung out so it'll probably be there too if you want to try it.

If you guys need any Bowling Pins for targets I have a bunch (30 to 40 Pins) that I can donate, someone would have to pick them up in Toledo.

Shoot me an email if interested.

Scott, at this point the shoots are on paper targets and we will likely stay on them for the next few months.  You offer is generous and we could pick them up and store them if you want us to have them.
Do you think you want to come out and shoot with us?

This is great. Just the kind of spirit we had in mind when we started this shoot. People coming together for fun and pitching in to help eachother out. No competative animosity or gaming BS. My daughter is really looking forward to this next shoot. Probably just as much as I am.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the invite, I might try and make it out to your next shoot, if nothing else just to observe and see what all is involved with the course of fire, to be honest I'm not in the best shape of my life and don't see myself doing a lot of high speed/low drag maneuvers.

But if you guys wanted I could bring out some Select Fire M16's if you guys wanted to do a few "stages" with them.

Scott, your call.  I can always do a few demo's of stance check with them.  Feel free to drop in, but even if you don't want to shoot I would still like you to show up @ 1pm with the new shooters so you can hear the who, what, why, when.
You do not have to be in HS/LD shape to play.

The 15 year old may come with me but still not completely sure. His parents have yet to make up their minds either way and as soon as I know, I'll update this post.

I too have to bow out!  I am pissed.

We are hosting an on-the-water shoot at Camp Perry all next week.  I now have to prep for that...  Maybe some day I'll get a weekend off like the rest of the world.

I still plan on coming, but I haven't had an opportunity to pick up ammo from AIM.

And now, this whole week, I work until after they are closed...  I'm going to try and make a run down on my lunch break...

If not, anyone know if OEO has some surplus .223?  Where is another good, cheap place to pick up decent .223?

Do any of you guys have a 30-rd. AR mag (or 2) you'd like to sell me?
Used grey USGI w/ green follower is fine.  I lost one of my old "heavily worn" mags a few months ago.  IM me on a price, and bring it with you on the 17th.  Thanks

I'll stock the cooler again, so anyone who wants free drinks, help yourself.
Multi-G, I picked up a cooler at a yard sale ($2...score!), so you'll get yours back sunday.

Now the question is... strippers or no strippers.

They have 4 on each right now.  The rest is just loose in the can.
