Hey guys I noticed we don't have any info tacked regarding Ohio concealed carry.

I would like to contribute some info and hope others will free to add more info. If this is found to be useful please tack it.

If your considering carrying outside of the State with your Ohio CHL the following states have reciprocity in that they except Ohio's CHL license and in turn Ohio recognizes theirs.

Reciprocity States
Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri,
North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington
and Wyoming.

The following states honor your Ohio CCW license but Ohio does not recognize theirs..
South Dakota, Montana, Indiana and Vermont

Please be aware that the laws very from state to state so please check the laws of your destination just to be safe

If you have the time and wherewithal you might consider writing or emailing Ohio attorney general Jim Petro to request more states be reviewed and agreements be established if possible

I have recently conducted a survey of the states to see which require a CHL holder to inform Law enforcement if they have a license.

Ohio CCW law has a duty to inform provision, in other words it requires a ccw holder to declare to law enforcement that you are a CHL holder.  Most states do not require this.
Summary..

States that require licensed CCW holder to notify a LEO during a stop

#1. Ohio
#2. Louisiana
#3. Michigan
#4. North Carolina
#5. Oklahoma
#7. South Caroline
#8. Texas
#9. Utah

So Look's like 9 states including Ohio require a CCW holder to inform Law Enforcement during a traffic stop.,

Hawaii I was able to find information for.

Nebraska and Kansas both have recently enacted CCW law, I wasn't able to establish good information on them.

Illinois and Wisconsin do not have conceal carry laws.

All other states do not have a duty to inform as far as I can find.

Out of courtesy you should probably declare that your a CHL anyway. However in these states it is not a crime to not do so.

Remember, This info is just FYI, While I'm an NRA instructor and have researched this in depth I'm not a layer, Laws are always subject to change.  Please study the law yourself or consult an attorney to be certain if you are not sure about any law.
