| Has anyone heard what the Ohio Concealed permit is going to look like? I heard that in other states that is can be anything from a typed piece of paper, endorsement on the State drivers license or a seperate plastic card. Does anyone have any idea's on what we will be issued? |

My PA permit is also a piece of paper and I got a smaller version with no photo laminated to fit in a wallet. Some counties in PA also offer a credit card version with a pic, however the photo is taken at the county sheriff. Since we have to provide our own photo for Ohio's I'm guessing that there will be no photo's on the permit (since the photo we provide is for background checks?) and it will be a laminated paper until things get going and sheriffs get the proper equipment to provide the credit cards with pretty pictures. For the cost of the permit it should be a credit card with my pic on it!! |

My Pennsylvania permit has my photo on it. I sent in a passport-size photo with the application. They sent me a reduced/laminated card and the paper slip. I'm thinking that the Ohio permits will be much the same. My guess is that we have to provide our own photos because not all SO are set up to take/process photos. My Wyoming CCP was just like a WY Drivers' license. IIRC, I had to submit the application/fingerprints at the SO, and the state sent me back the approved application with another form to take to the DMV. The DMV took my photo and issued the permit. |

According to the information our chief just got at a fact session, a "passport" photo must be turned in with you application. I assume this will be part of the final permit. As of last week, there has still been no decision made on exactly what the permit will look like. Dave |

I talked to a couple people "close" to sheriffs and they said it will be a credit card like an Ohio license complete with a strip on the back to insert you into the matrix. Some counties that won't have the whole setup are using the passport photos as your picture for the card. I know that Lake county is not going to be ready on April 8th because they are waiting on the machine that scans your hand and takes your picture, and they are probably going to do them by appointment only, but you can get your pic taken on site for way cheaper than you can get some passport photos. On a side note Ashtabula County is ready to go for April 8th. |
