Uh... howdy!

I hate the idea of changing nationalities but due to my current employment situation (or lack thereof) it may be necessary to relocate.  One possibility is Westerville (just north of Columbus).

Please comment on the area if you can.  Is this someplace you would want to be or is it behind the walls of Mordor?

Thanks,
-Ngog

Nice place to live.  Schools aren't that bad.  Traffic can be bad at times (by Columbus standards), but not excessively.  Fairly expensive housing. But where isn't anymore.  Sharon Woods (south of 270 - west of Cleveland ave - north of 161) is probably less expensive, and still pretty quiet little neighborhood.  It is enclosed by highways, so it isn't real busy.  North of 270, I'm not real familiar with.

What are you wondering about?... homes, apartments, schools, churches, children, etc...?

Oh yeah, it's far from any ranges that I know of... except New Albany Shooting Range nasr.com, which is a nice indoor pistol and short rifle range, but expensive, and somewhat snobby.

I have family in Westerviile, always kinda liked the place when I went to visit.  There is a small university there, mostly liberal pricks. Westerville did have a small gun shop downtown.  Then there is Vance's Guns, just south of W-Ville a few miles.  Lots and lots of handguns, and good prices too!!

There is alot of community around Westerville, so if you're working there, you're not bound to live there. Also alot of country around it too.

Nice houses run anywhere from $150-$300k, but that's for a nice neighborhood. It's a nice place, generally and our gun laws aren't too bad here in Ohio. We have CCW at long last.

Some really good gun shops near Westerville, too.

As for ranges, there are a few but none real close. There's an ODNR range about 45 minutes away, and the club I belong to is about 45 minutes up rte. 3 towards mt. Vernon. Or, you can come shoot at my place!

I love Westerville.  I've lived in that area for about 3 years now.  I'm kind of in the Westerville "annex" near Polaris.  Westerville has a good feel to it, and there's plenty around, but that adds to the traffic.  Freeways are all right there, and very accessible.  School system is pretty good.  A couple guys I met in college went there, and there seems to be good solidarity amongst the students.

It's nice to be far enough away from he city, but close enough when you need it.  I made it downtown in about 15 minutes today in moderate rush hour traffic.  Nice thing is there's 315 and 71 which will get you there.  Some other parts of the city only give you on way in/out, which can be a bitch if there's a traffic accident or rubbernecking.

Couple ranges in the area...Powder Room, NSAR, and ODNR range to the north (25-30) minutes, and of course, the gun store, VANCES!!  I've spent a fair amount of cash there.

We welcome you if you make the move!

Has a campground, 150 yard range, covered stations & a 7 acre pond. $35 per year, a $50 initiation fee. Don't have the number in front of me, email me and I'll give it to ya if you want.

I live in Westerville.  Nice place to live.   In fact Central Ohio is a great area in all.  There is quite a bit to do here.  Hocking Hills for some great hiking.  Many lakes and parks to visit in and around Columbus.  One nice thing is its proximity to other areas.  For example.  Chicago is 6 hours away,  Lake Erie 2 hours, Niagara Falls  5 hours, Indanapolis 3 hours,  The Carolina beaches are 10 to 12 hours, Great Smoky Mountains are about 6 hours.  Just get out the map and you will see the nice central location.   If you move here let me know and I can show you around.  Good Luck Joe
