| I'm psyched that you guys finally have CCW; I never thought it would happen. Only a few months after I left the state of my birth for NM. I'm glad the NM law didn't die in the supreme court; that would have been bitter irony. If OH offers non-resident permits, I'll have to get one. Even better, maybe they'll honor PA or NM permits eventually. |

From what I've gathered from reading the Bill (HB12), Ohio will not offer Non-Resident permits. As of right now, they've decided to enter into reciprocity only with the states that have equal issuance requirements or better. As of right now, I can't find any states that Ohio has entered into reciprocity with, although, here are the states that will honor Ohio's permit. Alaska 2004-01-09 Idaho 2004-01-09 Indiana 2004-01-09 Kentucky 2004-01-09 Michigan Resident Permit/License only 2004-01-09 Oklahoma 2004-01-09 Tennessee 2004-01-09 |
| I was hoping Ohio will have reciprocity with PA. Our family has a cabin there and I'm there every hunting and trout season. I emailed the Attorney General of PA asking if they were entertaining the idea of honoring OH CCW permits. I still haven't heard anything back yet. I'm gonna email them and send some letters stating my concern. |
Not sure if they still will issue them to Ohioans, but I know that a few months ago, PA would issue Ohioans, or anyone who applied, a Non-Resident Permit. There are some guys here who already have them. You just have to fill out the paper, and mail it back to the country sherrif of your choice. Check out www.packing.org in their PA section to see what they say about it now. I think there was one sheriff who was really good about getting it done. That would open up some other states that you could carry in, as PA has reciprocity with states that Ohio won't. |
Yep, Sheriff Denny Nau is great about issuing nonresident permits. No hassle at all. I vaguely remember that if you live in a state that issues permits, you need to have one to get a PA permit. Things are in-beteween for OH now, but I would give it a shot and see how it goes. |
