CCW prohibits "carry on school grounds" CA allows carry on campus if you have a CCW. Edit: If your license specifically forbids carry on school grounds then it must be followed. |

You can't CCW on a school ground? What a stupid law is that a state thing or a county limitation they have put on your CCW ? I have no idea but I would say your going to be ok leaving it in your truck CA has a million gun laws that no one enforces or understands ![]() It is a county limitation they have put on my CCW. Does my CCW still cover the pistol even though I would not be carrying it, and would be like 100 yards away from it? |
Reading the penal code it looks like you are ok with that plan (I do think it needs to be unloaded though ). K-12 you have to be a 1000 feet from the school but I see not mention of it for college campuses.

Actually after a little more digging it looks like you are good to go:
"PC 12031 specifically exempts those authorized to carry under PC 12050 from getting in trouble for a loaded weapon. PC 12027 states "Section 12025 does not apply to, or affect, any of the following:" "(j) The carrying of a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person by a person who is authorized to carry that weapon in a concealed manner pursuant to Article 3 (commencing with Section 12050)." |

Applicable laws...

(c) Subdivision (b) does not apply to the possession of a firearm under any of the following circumstances: (2) When the firearm is an unloaded pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed on the person and is in a locked container or within the locked trunk of a motor vehicle. thanks I called them directly when I first got my CCW, leaving it locked in the car on the curb is consistent with their wishes. It is a pain in the ass to unholster and reholster in the drivers seat twice a day in front of the school in yuppieville, but it is what it is. IIRC, the person I talked to about it used to be the mayor of Clovis, but works in the SO CCW department now that he is retired. Just checked, I'm up for renewal soon, better look into that... |
